Tom Fazio is at his best at the World Woods Golf Club's Pine Barrens Course

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. -- One of the most affordable and accessible Tom Fazio designs in existence can be found an hour's drive north of Tampa at World Woods Golf Club.

Home to two Fazio designs, the Pine Barrens Course is a dramatic test set in the mold of Pine Valley. It's a mainstay on top 100 public courses lists, checking in at No. 55 in Golf Digest's most recent Top 100 Public Courses in America. Pine Barrens plays very differently from the next-door Rolling Oaks course, also a Fazio design. Pine Barrens features massive waste bunkers guarding most holes and large, severely-undulating greens. While the course plays more than 7,000 yards from the championship tees, perhaps the most well known hole is the drivable par-4 15th, which presents many different ways to play it.

World Woods is one of Florida's most all-encompassing golf facilities. In addition to the 36 holes by Fazio, there is a short course, practice course and circular driving range, not to mention an irons-only range and an enormous putting and chipping green. It's one of the great stay-all-day golf facilities in existence.
