In 2019, we received nearly 6,000 reviews of over 1,500 golf courses across Great Britain and Ireland. The vast majority of these reviews came from those who live in the isles, playing golf in their localities or on short staycation or holidays. With this data in mind we sought out to find the best value and hidden gem courses across the U.K. and Ireland based on reviews.
We took a combination weighted average overall and six subcategory scores. Our weighted ratings logic skews towards most recent reviews. Golf courses needed multiple reviewers in 2019 as well as 10 reviews all-time to be eligible. Courses must also be under £50 in the summertime.
The following courses are much lesser known than the medal links courses and top resorts in the isles, but some were designed by notable architects like Harry Vardon, Alister MacKenzie and James Braid. Be sure to tell us which value courses go above and beyond for you with your own Golf Advisor review!
