Northern Michigan golf is great, but the Upper Peninsula offers some unforgettable places to tee it up as well. The best way to plan a UP golf trip is to put together a package. Mike Bailey suggests a three-night stay at the Island Resort in Harris, Mich., that includes playing three excellent golf courses: Marquette's Greywalls Course, Sweetgrass G.C., and TimberStone.
Greywalls Course at Marquette Golf Club, ranked as the second-best public course in Michigan by Golfweek, is more than "kind of cool." It's a wild, leave-you-breathless kind of place in the rugged Upper Peninsula, where rock walls and views of Lake Superior intermingle to over-stimulate golfers. Just don't get too distracted.
