Portland is a one-of-a-kind city to visit. It's golf scene is strong, too. Portlanders have great munis they can play every day. But what's most striking about the city is how varied the golf gets if you head an hour in any direction, such as the mountains to the southeast or the Columbia River Gorge to the east.

Portland is one of America's great livable and unique cities, and its residents are an especially outdoorsy bunch during the sunny summer months. So it makes perfect sense that the city would have a dynamite municipal golf system, which is highlighted by Heron Lakes Golf Club's Greenback and Great Blue courses.
