The 36th annual King Hassan II Trophy was contested in Morocco's capital city of Rabat Nov. 5-9, 2008. It was founded by King Hassan II, who passed away in 1999. This year, the tournament was presided by the country's Prince Moulay Rachid and is one of Morocco's most prestigious international sporting events that draws an international field and audience.
Royal Dar es Salam Golf Club's Red Course, one of the most prestigious golf courses in Morocco, opened in 1971 and is a classic Robert Trent Jones Sr. design set on over 440 hectares. It plays to over 6,700 meters when the PGA Tour pros come to Morocco each fall for the annual King Hassan II Trophy.
Morocco's capital city, Rabat, has just one golf club, though it's grand enough to host all of the city's players and plenty more visitors from Europe: Royal Dar es Salam Golf Club. The club has 45 holes of golf, including the heralded Red Course that stages the King Hassan II Trophy each fall.
