Good course for the price
The course was in pretty good shape, although the greens were slow. I was able to secure a Hot Deal price, which worked out well...I wouldn't have been satisfied if I had paid full price or anything > $25 for the course. I would return again for the Hot Deal price.
Enjoyable course
Fairways were in great shape. Greens on the front were fine. Greens on the back were aerated - not shown on Golfnow.
Very good golf course.
Golf course has a good layout with a good mix of easy/moderate/difficult holes. The course was in very good shape & the staff was very friendly. A good place to play !
Shorter and tight course
This is the first time I played Crooked Creek. Condition of course is fair. Course setup would favorite someone that hits shorter but straight. If you prefer to use drivers and more open courses, this could be a challenge. Has quite a bit of elevation changes on a few holes which is interesting.
beautiful course with cool elevation changes
course was in good shape, drained pretty well considering heavy rain prior to our playing.
Well designed course.
Played here a few times and enjoyed everything about Crooked Creek. Friendly staff, driving range, putting green and chipping area. I'm new to the area and will definitely visit this course often.
Interesting Course
This course offers golfers some interesting holes. Although the course isn't that long, it forces you to hit irons off many tees as a driver will take you through the fairway. Kind of a funky lay out which is why I would never recommend it. If you don't care about the layout, then feel free to play it.
Dynamic Course
I really enjoyed Crooked Creek. After the first 2 holes I, I thought it was a bit easy... But later appreciated what they did for my score :) The course appeared to be in good shape and as long as you're in the fairway, you'll have a good lie. I especially enjoyed the back 9. Multiple elevated shots over trouble where you can just watch your ball soar. I'll definitely be back!
Dynamic Course
Crooked Creek is a fun course, with a dynamic layout. It started off really easy, and as you progress, it gets more challenging and to me, more fun; especially the back. The back has large carries and cliffs to hit from. I'll definitely be back to this course
Please cut your greens!
A very interesting and challenging course that was fun to play but the glaring problem is the speed of the greens. They were full enough to be cut at least three more on the meter. A course of this caliber deserves to have greens to match.
Only complaint
This course was good and somewhat challenging. My only complaint would be that the greens were slow, could be better.
Fun layout
The greens have lots of poana. Makes for a bumpy roll.
Good course, good value
Enjoyed playing Crooked Creek. Course is in pretty good shape. Fairway grass is starting to come in. Greens are in above average condition, but a little slow.
Nice course
The course was nice, the people friendly and it was very enjoyable. Would play again for sure.
Crooked Creek is a great value.
Crooked Creek has a variety of holes for your pleasure. There are some blind shots, but the course is marked well so that you don't hit your shot into trouble. Sprinkler heads are highlighted in the fairways so that you don't have difficulty finding them to get yardages. You get elevation changes on this course you wouldn't normally get in the Raleigh area. Oh by the way the course is maintained well and the putting surfaces are a medium speed that make them fun to play. Enjoy
Greens were in good shape
I have played this course several times and it has always been in good shape.
Clueless Staff
Went out on a Friday afternoon as a single. There were maybe 8 cars in the parking lot. After breezing through the first 7 holes with no problem, I got to the 8th tee (which is also by the clubhouse) and there was a terrible backup. After the group ahead refused to let me pass, I went in the golf shop at the turn. The man inside told me he let several groups go off the 8th tee right in front of me because those groups wanted to play the back side instead of the front. (Why he didn't send them off 10, I have no idea. Regardless, you don't put golfers in front of those already on the course and slow them down.) That is the most rude and disrespectful thing a golf course can do, and after offering nothing to make it right, I left. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO CROOKED CREEK!
Challenging, yet fair
I found the course to be fair, but challenging. It is definitely a course that you can score better the second time around once you are familiar with the layout. The conditions were good, not great. There were a few rough patches on the greens, but the fairways and bunkers were in good shape. Some of the tee boxes were a little rough, but it looks like the course management does move the tee boxes around enough to compensate for the rough spots. Overall, an above average course. I will make a return visit soon.
Front Nine scoring followed by Back Nine challenges!!!
Crooked Creek was pretty wet from recent rainfall but the weather was great and the pace of play was relaxing. The front nine has some great holes where you can really score. After the turn, 10 and 11 make you think you can really shoot low....Then, BAM, you feel like you have crossed into another dimension...The elevation changes are severe. Picking the proper landing areas becomes very challenging. You really have to choose the correct club for your tee shot and I left the driver in the bag to ensure my second shot was not a recovery shot. Staff was super friendly at check in and at the grill. The wife beat me on the front, put my shot selection on the back allowed me to over take her and pocket her money for the day.
