Very nice course layout
With the hills and everything, I really enjoyed this course. Some holes are quite challenging, but overall reasonable. The green may have been in better condition, but for this time of the year, I guess this might be something hard to do (I dont know, I just moved in the area recently).
But will definitively come here again.
Winter conditions
The back nine is especially difficult for older golf because it's very hilly.
Warm January day.....
Played on a nice Sunday in January - guess they were not expecting that many golfers to show up, so there was no starter ans no marshalls. Lack of a marshall proved to be a problem as the group in front of us included a 12 year old beginner. Slow play was the result. Course is challenging - it's tight in places. Good par 3's. A few goofy holes - #12 and #13. No two holes are alike. If you are on the wrong side of the pin on the greens, it is tough to get a putt close. When the course is in good summer- shape and there are marshalls, then it is a good $40 round.
Nice Course, Nice Facility
I am a typical duffer who really enjoys the game, not a great player, but good enough to have fun... The front 9 is very nice, not too hard, not too easy, but the back 9 is TOUGH ! There are about three holes on the back that are darn near unplayable for my game, but I am sure some players will find those same holes fun and challenging.
The course is well maintained and is an enjoyable ride. There are many elevation changes on the course and some cliff shots that are fun.
Give it a try.
Always a great track!
Crooked Creek is an enjoyable track to play. Staff is very friendly and professional. The course is in good shape for December golf.
This course was an enjoyable challenge
I haven't been playing golf for long, approximately 7 months, I found Crooked Creek to be challenging, well-maintained, and fun to play.
excellent staff
amazing condition for this time of the year - challenging yet fair for a high handicapped golfer - great price through GolfNow
fun course
Nice, open course. Houses are set back off of fairway. A few of the natural areas have been cleaned up and it's looking nice.
Very difficult if you don't know the course to be able to play it.
Local golfers recommended Crooked Creek Golf course to me.
The course was fun to play but not easy to score on.
I would play it again now that I know a little more how to play it.
Good conditioned narrow, hilly course with the creek in play.
Since straight is not my strong suit, it was a challenge to keep the ball in play.I had to play irons off the tee where I might try to add distance in a more wide open course using my driver. It paid off as some of the holes are better played in this fashion(#2 in particular). We had fun and ended up playing a 2 person scramble on the back 9 as the uphill. downhill walks to our balls wore us down. Will definitely play here again to use more strategy on certain holes to hopefully score better.
Great course to have fun with bodies
Great course to have fun with bodies at weekend, doesn't require to stretch out power, just to play smart. 18th hole, is the most demanding hole, will make you feel great to be able to finish with par or better.
Excellent course, great shape, great value...
I've played here many times and it's always been a favorite. We moved out of the area so I haven't had a chance to play it in a while. (I got a great deal on Golfnow for $26 with cart and range balls. )
The course is in great shape but the pace of play, on the back nine, was slow. That is today's golf, unfortunately. Other than that it was a nice round.
If you haven't played here before I would not put too much in to the yardage on the card. The card tells you it's short (5700 yds from the white tees) It's very deceiving because the design offers plenty of challenges. Instead of having the 'bombers' mentality you need to keep in mind that there is a place to land the ball off the tee and that some of the greens are small and not very deep. There is also deep bunkering and severe elevation changes, especially on the back nine.
Really a lot of fun to play but hit it straight and hit it solid.
Trouble starts at 8
I've hit the track many times, and never have the same round. 8, 9, 12, and 13 are the hardest holes on the course, and if you can scrape through them with bogies, you're doing pretty well. A lot of elevation changes, and some great driver holes. Great course.
Nice course, some greens need repair
Overall a nice course. Rain has helped this year. Some greens still need repair. If you get a good GolfNow rate, it's worth it.
A Tale of 2 Nines
Not a very long course, especially from the whites. The front 9 has a lot of "standard" golf holes with little risk, but the back 9 is literally carved out of the Fuqua-Varina hills and requires precise course management in order to score well.
Greens weren't in very good shape.
Overall a good value. Greens needed some work. Rest of the course in good shape.
Worth the money if booked online
This course is one of the cheaper courses around Raleigh and is a good deal. You get free range balls with your tee time and the course has a very nice practice area. The greens can get dried out in the summer but the course is usually in pretty good shape. Not a very long course and good golfers should be able to score well.
Not a long course but has some very neatly designed holes.
Will play in summer to see how the greens are then.
Good course. Will test your skills
Really enjoyed playing this course. First two holes were easy but the rest of the course became more challenging. Well maintained, great staff. Greens do need a little work.
