Average but very fun
This is not the first time I have played Crowders Mtn, but it was the first time I played it this summer. The course conditions were average, but this is a very fun course to play. The fairways were ok, a little thin due to the hot dry weather we have had so far, but nothing that affected play. The greens looked great, but were slow for my liking. I left several putts short due to the lack of speed but they were smooth and looked nice. The tee boxes are a bit chewed up, especially on the par 3s. The layout is great and really fun to play. A good variety of holes, long and short, up and down. Alot of elevation change, especially on the front, and alot of doglegs on the back. All in all its a fun course and comes at a good price.
90 Degree Fall Day
Pleasantly surprised by this course.Holes get gradually more imaginative.Greens in great shape. The rate of $32 on a Sunday was value for money. Was able to book the tee times way in advance not the statutory week unless you have an outing which most courses demand.Staff very friendly.Diwnside no beer sales so bring your own cooler.
Good Test, Greater Value
Have played here on a number of occasions and once again Crowder's did not disappoint. Traditional wait off the 1st tee (5-10 minutes), but once we got moving things spread out a good bit. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in great shape. Greens tend to be on the slower side but roll true.
Scorecard app shows pace of play at 4:23, so overall a great round of golf at a course that still has its 'hidden gem' flavor. Crowder's is a great track for all ability levels and is unique in being a true mountain course so close to Charlotte.
Fun Course to Play
Played the course today for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The greens, though a tad slow, looked great and rolled smooth. The fairways were beautiful and in really good shape. Only a few tee boxes were in rough shape. A nice mix of holes, short/long, straight/dogleg, and elevation changes, up/down. Overall, in good shape and a very fun course to play.
Great Value & Challenge
Played here as a Father's Day gift. Course was in great shape and provided a unique challenge being a mountain course so close to Charlotte. Pace of play was a little slow but mostly due to a logjam of groups in front of us. Will definitely be playing here again.
Great Course
Well maintained and challenging. Course has a variety of fairways that rise and fall to the greens .The fifth hole is extremely short and the degree of drop is almost equal the distance to the hole. The thirteenth hole is a long par five that almost requires a layup from the tee. I highly recommend this course. staff is aways friendly.
CourseNOT kid friendly
I have played this course for 15+ yrs. I have a 10 yr. old son that I bring when my wife has to work, and he enjoys going with me. Well I went to play Sunday in a dogfight and we had 15 players, which would be three 4 sums and a three sum.I was told that I would have to pay $14 for my son to ride. Its not like we had to rent another cart, we had an empty seat and he still wanted $14. I thought golf courses were sopoose to encourage the youth to get involved in golf. This place is only out for money. Last month they had 3 temporary greens and they didnt reduce the price even though we were playing a 15 hole course now. I also had a buddy who drank a little to much on the golf course, and gota ride home with one of his friends who was playing there also, and when he came back the next MORNING his car was towed.I have spent alot of money at this place and i rarely get called by name. There is a few employees there that are nice. I will miss those fellas. But if you wanna play a course that after your first round there, they will call you by name. Its Green Meadows. This course isnt the most beautiful course in town, but its a good golf course. Its not a difficult course, but its a good course to score well at. You can always find a match and the people are always glad to see you.
I guess the the owner of Crowders Mountain doesnt like people playing his course. He has ran off alot of golfers. If you play here, just know that when you pay your fees, it for the fees only. You cant buy a smile there, and no kids allowed.
