Too wet
Although you could tell that the course would be fantastic if conditions were better, the fact is they are not. Every single fairway was extremely wet. Even the tea boxes were wet. The greens were in great shape probably because they used the big tarps that we saw to cover when it rains heavy. just impossible to hit consistent approach shots from anywhere on the fairway. Obviously mother nature is not their fault but right now the course is way too wet to play. You need to wait until it dries out or if they slash the rate to $25 then it would be worth it
Ray’s review
Treated my pastor to a round on Grandover East.
Wet and muddy but an enjoyable experience.
We are both anticipating playing it again when it greens up a bit.
February Play
Greens were excellent, fast, fair and difficult. Still the course is great and challenging for any player that selects the appropriate tree. Had a great winter day.
Great as always
A little slow for a Thursday but hard to complain, I’ve reviewed this place before, go play it, treat yourself.
Sam the Tee time General! You need to chill!!!
We where pumped to play!
Day started great, arrived early, staff in pro shop 5 of 5..
Then we meet Sam.. pushy Sam. Rude Sam.. I could go on!
We went over to the range and took a few shots, some good, some bad. Gotta get loose after the drive..
All while Sam was being eagle eye, and rushing us to the tee box ‘10 minutes early’.. and the first tee was seriously 1 min away.. at this point I was ok Sam, keeping the pace.. no worries..
But here is when it starts… Sam asked me: ‘do you even play golf??? I was like excuse me?? The rudest thing you can say to a person that just paid $90 for a round and even heading into a round! 1st hole tee off is hard enough without having ‘Sam’.. few words back to Sam and we tee’d off. My partner tee’d off ‘average start’ and then I hit.. we are on the way… SO WE THOUGHT…. While I was tee’ing off Sam spoke with my partner ‘we have to talk’ he said.. he waited to when I got back to the cart and proceeded to tell us ‘we had to play captains choose.. this time not referring to my ball.. but my partners.. make your mind up Sam….
At the point of time, I had enough of Sam! Words where spoken, Sam got the point FINALLY.. ‘use your imagination please ;-)’ …
It was so rude! We are in for a chilled fun Sunday game and Sam honestly made the first few holes a horrible experience! Couldn’t believe at a club with high ratings and consumer satisfaction, has a Karen ‘Sam’ being honestly a police officer on the course!
I’ve played TPC Sawgrass FL and Kirkland in Scottsdale, Monarch in CA, never an issue and now playing a local course in Greensboro NC.. this happens! Just a shame!
I hope no one else experiences Sam.. ‘ dear Sam!! Chill out Sir!! Golf is meant to be enjoyable! We are not all turning pro and it’s meet to be fun and challenging!
Keep your opinions to yourself! Don’t forget without consumers you wouldn’t have a job!
Best in The Carolinas
Both courses are top notch. Best resort in all of the Carolinas in my opinion
Absolutely amazing
An absolutely beautiful course, very very well maintained. Well worth the money. Definitely coming back!
Always fun
The greens were heavily sanded which I suspected based on the price I paid but I was able to play as a single. I played through a couple groups over the day but I played 2 balls and finished in under 3 hours, so I hope you all have such good fortune in your outing! Greens were still quick and rolled ok considering their condition (sandy/healing) so I won’t be too upset. Thrilled I was able to play as a single, I didn’t ask but they didn’t stop me so, kudos to the staff for that.
One of the better layouts around, I played the East course from the tips. I’m an 8 index but I’m long and it was nice to get to play a true championship length layout. Jealous of those UNCG kids!
Also, golfnow, this app reloads my whole review (blank!) every time I try to upload a photo. PlzFix
Tricky Greens
First time playing Grandover East. Great layout, greens have a lot of movement/false fronts and edges. Will play again when the course greens up in the spring. More fun to play than the West course (tho that's a good layout too).
Narrow Fairways
Great course, fun and challenging. Narrow fairways and fast greens. We plan to play again soon.
