Terrible experience
After driving over two hours to play this course this was our experience. Course conditions were decent not many complaints there other than fall leaves falling all over the greens (not the courses fault). The course is pretty short so if you’re a long ball hitter then you have 2-3 holes where you can hit a driver other than that you’re forced with a lot of forced layups but definitely a risk-reward shots. Never played there before so we had to use the GPS to get to the course which led us to a locked gate with a remote call box. The note said to call the pro shop so we did. The guy was not friendly at all during our conversation in which he stated “we was obviously at the wrong gate”. Once we made it to the pro shop our twosome was paired with another twosome when the course wasn’t busy at all (literally had one group behind us and never seen anyone else the rest of the day). My friend and I are young and we was paired with 2 60+ year olds and it made our round completely miserable!!! We normally play 18 holes by ourselves in about 3 hours however being paired with the two old guys it took a little over 5 hours to play. With us being longer hitters, playing the tips, they would play the whites and we would tee off, then by the time they hit their ball 4 more times to make it to our ball we finally got to hit again 15 mins later. This just made for a miserable round and we had no fun at all! After a almost 3 hour front nine we was ready to leave at that point! But having $50 invested in a round at a course we’ve never played we wanted our monies worth so we stayed.
Gem quality staff, challenging layout
Pick your shots wisely! Valley-esque holes provide some fairway banking and less wind, top of the hill shots need to be hit with a bit more consideration for the gusts over the mountain. Teri in the clubhouse was a treat and Mike the starter is as good as they get.
Amazing
Great lay out. The course was so well taken care of. Couldn’t mind any issues. Just amazing.
The greens were amazing!. Can’t wait to play this course again!
The back Nine much better than the front
The lady at the desk was EXTREMELY helpful, as was the Starter.
The front Nine was a little soggy, but fine.
Then, the Back Nine had much more CHARACTER, with better conditions.
Stunning course
I was in the area for my brothers bachelor party, coming from Florida. All I have to say is... wow. Every single hole I was more and more blown away with how beautiful the course was. The views were unreal and the conditions were great. I don't think there was a single second during the round we all weren't smiling ear to ear. I hope I can come back to the area so I can play it again. That was a round I'll never forget.
Fun Mountain Golf
I have played this course several times in the past. However, it currently is in the best condition I can remember. Thanks go to Nancy in the pro shop and Pete the starter for making this a fun day.
Well maintained course, enjoyable to play
Busy course. Nice environment. Well maintained, a good balance of play challenges while not leading to an automatic loss of a ball if just off the fairway.
True Mountain Course
First time playing. True mountain course. Lots of target golf required. Greens are very challenging with slight to severe undulation. This course requires shot control and the ability to carry the ball at least 200 yards off the tees from the blue box. Course is in great condition. The back nine allows for more drivers off the tee where the front is more irons. Will definitely play here again. Was paired with a great group who had course knowledge. This helped and was worth at least 3-5 strokes. Shoutout to Minnie Driver for keeping things entertaining.
Almost Outstanding
This course rewards accuracy over distance, with some fairly tricky angles. It is well maintained and offers spectacular views and significant elevation changes. I would not recommend walking unless you are a serious hiker. The only real drawback was that the restaurant/bar was closed during ownership transition. Otherwise, I would give it close to 5 stars.
gorgeous course and fun to play
It was cart path only because of the rain the past couple days, but that was ok it was in great shape and perfect day.
Great condition
Course was in great shape , fast green very good course
Enjoy the course, beautiful scenery
Cummings Cove is a fun course to play and is my regular rotation of courses played. The course plays a little short, under 6,000 yards from the Blue Tees, 6400 from the tips I believe. What it lacks in length, it more than makes up with the need for precision shots. Though the fairways are reasonably wide, there are plenty of trees to create issues if you're just a few yards out of position. Which protects the shortness of the course.
Overall, the course is in great shape. Greens 9/10, some spots here or there. They roll true and quick. Fairways 9/10. Good grass and kept up nicely.. Traps, well kept--at least the couple I visited. Tee boxes--these need some work. 6/10. The course has a very active membership within the neighborhood and receives a ton of play from them as well as a lot of public play. Hard to have everything humming at once so if I had to choose something to be weak, it'd be tee boxes.
The staff is kind and keeps things moving. The only thing to watch is tee time jumpers. Our time was 1:50 and we arrived at the tee at 1:45. There was a group of 3 on the tee preparing to tee off, when asked, their time was 2:10. They had jumped two groups, until being called out. Ranger isn't at the 1st tee so that might be something to address.
Best course I've played
Love it, overall the best course I ever played. I will be going back.
Hi, u314164352363. We would love to hear more about your 4-star experience on our course. Please tell us what we can do to earn that last star, and thanks for golfing at Cummings Cove Golf & Country Club!
I'm sympathetic to these guy's experience. I enjoy this course but have had similar experiences with lack of knowledge or courtesy on behalf of the staff regarding tee-times and spacing.
I was told to wait on the first tee for a tee time that my twosome was 25 minutes early for, and subsequently waited there for 25 minutes while absolutely zero golfers teed off, until another twosome showed up that we were required to play with.
Ridiculous. Educate your staff Mr. Golf Pro/General Manager.
