Cross Creek Country Club, the pleasure of Mount Airy
It has to be one of the nicest, challenging, and best layout of any of the golf courses in the area. Well kept and maintained. Always a pleasure to experience the atmosphere of Mount airy.
Excellent course in mountain~~~
Drove an hour and half to get there, it worth every bit of it..Great price from Golfnow and great course layout. enjoyed play golf there!!!
Beautiful and Fun course, NEEDS A RANGER FOR PACE OF PLAY!
Cross creek is a beautiful and fun course to play! In great shape and the staff is super friendly. Layout is open for the most part and challenges your game. The course needs a ranger BAD though, members cutting in front of play hardly any golf etiquette or respect of pace of play from other players. Flew through the font 9 ( Tee time 2:10 finished front by 3:50) got the the back 9 and we were cut by 2 players who were absolute trash and did not care anything about pace of play nor offered to let a play through happen, taking 10+ strokes before getting on the green then 3-5 putting greens. Finished the back 9 around 6:45. Hole 17 and 18 total took 1 whole hour. Overall great place to play just hope for the best you do not get caught behind people blaring music and are terrible at golf, takes the fun out of this amazing course! May be back again since it was the first time there. Always give a second chance.
Windy Day
This was our third time playing Cross Creek and we caught it on a very blustery day with a 2 to 3 club wind. Course is tough enough without the wind but today it played extremely difficult, especially the back nine. Greens were in great shape, and fairways are just now starting to fill in.. With a little rain and warm weather it should be in top shape in a few weeks. Fun layout with lots of challenging shots and elevation differences.
Zach Blenkinsopp
Great track for the price and the lady at the front was super friendly. They have a full size driving, chipping green, and putting green. The course has a LOT of water so it was a little frustrating hitting some really good shots just to find they had rolled in the water. But that is was more my fault than the course.
Would definitely play again!
Terrible layout
This was the worst layout imaginable. Forced layups; no risk/reward holes. More than a few ground under around greens. Greens did roll true, that’s my only positive.
Recently Punched Greens
Overall the course layout is great. Plenty of trees and water (by the way if you ball goes in the creek, dont waste your time looking for it. The current is strong) to make you think about each and every shot you take. The sand traps could use some attention, but overall for $27 (18 holes and cart), it is a good deal.
Great day of golf
It was a planned outing with family for the day after Thanksgiving. Even though it is winter here in NC the greens were in excellent condition. The course is well maintained. Well placed hazards at each hole make this a challenging course even for the most skilled golfer. Not your weekend warrior course for sure. If you come to play Cross Creek you best be on your A game!!
Great value in Mount Airy
Played the course for the first time as we passed through on our way south. The weather was super...sunny with a high of 64. The grass was dormant but the fairways and greens were in great shape. The fairways on he front nine are wide but the greens are very well protected with all of the bunkers in exactly the wrong place. We especially liked the back nine with seven of the holes winding through the woods and incorporating lots of elevation changes. The back nine was a little tighter than the front nine.
The staff were friendly and the person at the counter honoured the price that I had been quoted on the phone the previous week ( $35), even thought the weekend rate was in effect for Veterans Day.
The signage could be a little better as we accidentally played #17 instead of # 6. The problem was that there is a loop back to # 6 from the fifth green and since we were playing the gold and red tees we reached them before going up a hill to the white tees where the sign pointed to #6.
Try this course!
