A Few Issues
It was an extremely gorgeous day for this time of year (30 Nov), with cloudless blue skies and virtually no wind, and a temperature approaching 70 degrees. The course itself was very nice, with dormant, brown Bermuda grass, which is to be expected this time of the year. There isn't proper signage showing golfers where the first tee is. You need to leave the cart area and go through the parking lot and pass in front of the club house to find the first tee. The first 9 holes are on one side of the road and 10-16 are across the road. The 17th and 18th holes are back across the road on the club house side. The course was fair and challenging and the booklet given to us from the pro shop helped a lot. The front 9 is fairly flat, but once you cross the road to play 10-16, the course gets hilly, but not extremely so. The other gripe aside from the lack of signage was there was no water to drink on the course. It wasn't that the water coolers were empty, there just weren't any at all in the little wooden cooler housings! Management needs to realize that a golfer doesn't have to be playing in 90-degree weather in order to have a need to stay hydrated. We brought it to the attention to a staff member after our round who seemed surprised there was no water, but then seemingly tried to excuse the absence by saying, "Well, it is November after all." Didn't make sense, but what can you do? All in all it was a fairly good experience.
Nice looking course , lots of water , overall fun course
Great layout
First time playing here. Loved it. Mt Airy is a beautiful area and this course compliments it well. Very solid layout. It's tough but not unfair. Being late November the rough was getting dormant but you can see the course is well maintained.
Hidden Gem
Good layout and very friendly staff. Would recommend.
Superb course
Cross Creek Country Club is superb. The layout is beautiful and the course is in excellent shape. The cost for a Sunday morning 11:00 am tee time was exceptional
If closer, would play daily!
Played next day after a ton of rain. Was a bit wet but playing condition was consistent. The layout is interesting as the course cuts into itself. Not a long course but if you miss you are punished! Point blank if you can move the ball both directions off the tee then you will score well. If you hit the same shape shot you will not. If this course was closer it would quickly be my favorite. I will be back.
If closer, would play daily!
What a carved out course! Not a long course but you must be accurate off the tee. Greens rolled true. The streams that cross the holes add so much to the atmosphere! At one point 16th green you drive through a creek. This course is a nice track, well maintained, will come back.
Top tier course
The fairways and greens are in top conditions. Layout is challenging. Strongly recommend for quality at a good price.
GREAT PLACE
I enjoy this course. It will challenge all your skills.
One of the best overall courses I have played in NC. Well worth the time and money. Definitly a keeper.
Excellent course
The staff friendliness is a plus but course in great shape after they had flooding a few weeks ago! They did an excellent job getting course right back in 5 star shape! Excellent round of golf worth the money!
Best course in Surry County!
This is an excellent track with an interesting design that keeps you on your toes. The fairways and rough are in pristine condition currently. The greens have been in better condition this summer than they have been in previous years. The ball rolls very true and smooth. The greens were rolling probably about a 9 on the stimpmeter. The bent grass can have a hard time in the warmer months so it is impressive that the superintendent has been able to maintain these greens in as good of condition as they are. I definitely recommend playing this course in the spring or in the fall when the greens are able to maintain a quicker speed due to the cooler temperatures. The staff are limited but they always try their best to accommodate everyone’s needs. Come play this course if you haven’t already! You’ll have a hard time finding a course of this quality at this low of a price level. Cross Creek is easily the nicest course in Surry County by a long shot!
This is a very nice and well conditioned golf course. We played after several days of heavy rain so it had a lot of water on it but it held up well overall. Fairways are pristine. Bent grass greens are smooth and true but only average speed. Rough is not tall but very thick and presents a challenge. Good solid layout with the back nine having a little more imagination in the design than the front. Staff was very friendly. I will definitely be back.
Great course,
only problem we had were the lack of yardage markers.
The course was beautiful and in very good condition
Nice tract
Great condition, good test of golf. You’ll use every club in the bag. Very pleasant
I had never play Cross Creek
I used one of my GolfNow credits as a premier member. Both my friend and I played for $25.00 with cart a great deal. I will go back
