What a treat!
I got an opportunity to play this course with a group of 12 golfers as guests. We normally play our of Forrest Creek when we are in Pinehurst, but the Cardinal Course at CCNC more than lived up to the hype we had heard about it.
The most impressive part of our experience was the staff, and that is saying a lot because we LOVED the course. From the time we arrived, we were welcomed by the entire staff and they made us feel like members throughout our day. From the parking lot, the clubhouse, the first tee or the turn house, the staff was EXCELLENT.
The Cardinal Course didn't disappoint either, We played it around 6300 yards from the Blues, most of us are high in the 5-15 handicap range and this set of tees seemed to make it enjoyable for our group. We could have stretched it out another tee box, but we were there to enjoy our round. The layout is so natural as it roll through the southern pines and hills of Moore county. You do see some houses from the course, but they are not built up close to the course and not really noticeable throughout the round.
The course was in great shape, we had played all over Pinehurst that week and it was by far in the best condition (close with #4). The greens were super quick which was fun, but they held just fine with iron shots. Great turn house and love the finishing 18th hole, closing over the water with the clubhouse behind it.
If you can get on, a MUST PLAY in the Pinehurst area.
