Came to play,it looked so rough we went elsewhere
We got there and words can't describe the putting green, strange grass all over it and no way to putt.I walked to the closest green and it was the same. When I read the reviews the newest one was 5 years old. That should have been a red flag.
Challenging, Will Return
Fun course that offers some challenging holes. Difficult to find your way around the course at times.
Soggy Day
Course was wet but playable and having choice of three tees made the course as challenging as you wanted, We played the mens tees and actually had a fun time. The course manager on site was friendly but not appreciative of our "hot deal" because he said Golf Now gets all of the money from our transaction. He was very negative about Golf Now so that bothered me a bit. We did buy drinks at the turn (5 dollar minimum with credit card). So I was understanding but thought it was inappropriate to throw a guilt trip on me.
Decent course
Greens need work but overall not bad. Once greens are fixed course could be wonderful. Tight fairways.
Ehhhh So so...
The greens and fairway are a little below average....it's a nice challenge of a course but greens need immediate work and so do the cart paths...Great staff and nice lil club restaurant with good deals
fun course
I had a great time on the course, and shot well on the front. One of only a few courses that I have played that have green fairways in great shape for this early in spring
good challenge
This course is nice, can't beat the hot deal I got $10 normally prob $20 on a Saturday its hard to find any deals. This course is not perfect greens were all good some fairways was a little bumpy. But overall I'd suggest a play a few holes on the front nine are very challenging excpecialy the long par 5 think #4 because it really tight fairway. It has a hill coming down on 1 side and the other drops off so you have to have to perfect shots to play this hole luckly par. Like the back 9 with the fairway layout of #10 its a nice hole to pick your game up, no point in trying to hit green lay up and you should have a fun easy shot at the green I shot 82 only +2 on the back with a birdie on 18
Course in very bad shape
This course needs a lot of attention. The grounds are like bedrock with mud clay. The price was cheap, so I got what I paid for. I did not book this course for price, but for the ratings which was a 3 out of 5. This rating is far from the truth.
Yikes !
Pace of play was fast. Started on back 9 and generally played at our own pace without pushing group ahead or getting pushed by group behind. 2nd nine was wide open and finished in 3-1/2 hours. Greens were in good shape but had not been mowed. Greens were fairway length grass and slow as you might imagine. Fairways and tee boxes were pretty bare. Design and hole layout was pretty haphazard. No driving range or starter to get people off at scheduled time. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Not expensive but would rather spend a few more $'s and play at some other courses in Triad area.
Great Value
Course was in best condition in five years great value.
Play Somewhere Else
My wife and I went out to play this course cause we got a 50% off deal on GROUPON. I am around a 12 handicap, with my best over all round being a 78. This course IS THE WORST COURSE I HAVE PLAYED in the area. The only part of the course I found playable were the greens.
The greens were much like the greens at OLDE HOMEPLACE. They rolled well but were thick and slow. However that is all that can be said that is good about Plantation.
The tee boxes were dirt. The fairways were dirt. The fringes were dirt. The bunkers were small and had too much sand. The layout was terrible and very condensed. Lots of up hill shots to greens. No sign labeled to point you to the back nine. On the second hole we contemplated calling it quits...
I use GolfNow to book almost every tee time, and you can play OAK VALLEY, OLDE HOMEPLACE, MEADOWLANDS, SALEM GLEN, TANGLEWOOD, GREENSBORO NATIONAL and a number of other courses for around the price and have a much better experience. And if your near Riedsville, and have a chance, run up to Danville, VA and play the GOODYEAR GC. In my opinion it is the one of best three courses I have ever played (including TPC Sawgrass and Firestone CC two PGA TOUR courses), and it was only $18 to walk and $30 to ride.
Bottom line, this course needs new ownership or a new superintendent. There are much nicer places to play for around the same value if you are using GolfNow. I hate being a pessimist but this place was just bad...I would only play there again if it was free...
Friendliest Staff Ever
The course was in pretty decent shape. Even if the course was terrible, I would go back because the staff was super friendly.
Exactly What I Was Looking For
I just moved to the Greensboro area and wanted to get in a round of golf and when I saw this course was close, I wanted to check it out. I must say, I loved it. The cart paths are a little rough, but that honestly didn't bother me. The service was outstanding and so very nice and the carts were clean. I did not have to wait for anyone at all and played at my own pace. I am going to try to play this course once a week from here on out.
fun course
i was mostly leaves everywhere i know it fall but im just saying could have been better the greens were so so
Needs a lot of attention.
Went out and played this by myself and was a good chance to get some practice. I like the layout and the course has been nice at one time and could be again but it needs a lot of attention.
Very friendly staff
Good people, decent course, great value for only $9.
Back 9 = atrocious
Didn't expect much from the course after reading some of the reviews. Reviews were pretty accurate. Staff was friendly, club house was like taking a step back in time....way back. Front 9 was ok to play...I just can't stop thinking of how bad the back was. Tee boxes were overgrown, weeds in the fairway. At times it was tough to see where the fairway stopped and rough began, just all overgrown. True "cow pasture".
course was in good shape,
good course not long but it uses elevated greens and blind shots and tighter than normal fairways to make it a challange it is fun and a change of pace for my group I do suggest you bring a gps or range finder the only marked distances are on the cart path that is 150 and 100
hidden jewel
Super tight fairways and elevated greens made the course a lot of fun. Will definitely play here again
Good for the money
Hard to judge the maintenance in the winter but nothing negative to report regarding maintenance. You can tell its done but I have seen it done better. The course is deceptively challenging at times and the course has a good variety of hole types i.e. uphill tee shots, downhill sloping tees, tees over water etc. For the money its a good value with a friendly staff and laid back atmosphere.
We had the same experience
