Much improvement since new owner took over
I have played this course several times now. I first played when the previous owner was still around. Since he is gone, conditions are improving every time I play. Green side bunkers had soft, playable sand. There was a distinct difference between fairway and rough. There is a much better atmosphere in the clubhouse.
I know it is not what it once was several years ago, but it is well on the way back. I intend to play as often as I can.
A value for the money in Rowan County
First the course is a challenge. If you hit it out of the fairway expect to lose a ball. That said, the greens rolled well even with some bare spots. The ownership has changed! The people are friendly and understand that they must win back the customer. I have not played this course in over five years as i had heard it was terrible.... Not now. The bunkers are not repaired, but keep in mind most of the other courses in the area have no bunkers to maintain. This was never an easy course, great layout, but if you cant hit it move forward a tee box. Too many "players" in the area think that because they shoot in the 80s at mac or corbin that they should here too, nope, tougher course. You can not beat a hot deal on this course. Ten bucks is a steal. Play it before everyone else realizes 25$ everywhere else isn't worth it. Overall, enjoyed it will be back to see the progress. Gook luck team Cresent many are watching:)
Owner Comments.
The Crescent is changing. Greens are good. The fairways are improving daily and are acceptable for the very low green fees being charged to attract new play. The layout is outstanding. Exceptional rates with further discounts can be claimed for foursomes. Our goal is to out preform all our competition. We want your business. We solicit your input to help us improve. Increase play will allow us to generate the funds to continue to make the needed improvements we desire. Try us!!! Thanks!!!
Crescent coing on
Crescent went through some tough times last year, but new ownership, leadership in the clubhouse, and focus on the course conditions have already made a huge impact. Sean, the new pro, is great. The course looks so much better than it did in 2015, not perfect yet, but getting there a little more each day. The layout is superb, and the value is incredible. It takes a couple of rounds to figure out some holes, but that is what makes it a fun challenge. Well worth your dollars!
The course has a nice layout
It was not really to warm when we tee off but got nicer and then it got windy and cold about 3.30. A lot of water still around from all the rain.
What happened
I played this course quite a few times 5 years ago through golf now and boy has it went south. I think they are selling the grass from the fairways. The greens weren't in bad shape, just a few diseased spots. One temp hole that no one told me about. The upkeep off the fairways is non existent! Probably won't play here again anytime soon. Sad because it used to be a decent course. I can't see anyone paying rack rate. I got a hot deal for $13
We would greatly appreciate you giving us another chance. I think you will find much better conditions and a friendly atmosphere.
Thank you

A shell of its former self
This was an excellent golf course a few years ago the last time I played it. But be it neglect or bad weather or lack of money the condition of this golf course is a shame. It will be my last trip here until if and when I hear this place is back on its feet. That said we didn't wait to hit a shot for obvious reasons and the gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.
We would appreciate you giving us another try. The greens are in excellent shape and overall conditions have improved.
Thank you

The Open Sunday
Obviously this course may once have been good.it has a good layout and with the exception of the 3rd the greens were ok.
That's where it ends there are large swathes of bald areas on fairways, bunkers and fairways are weedy. This course needs a serious capital injection it's sad because it could be so good.
A Shadow of it's Former Self
Wish I could dispute what others have written about Crescent recently, but I can't. I guess the first clue was pulling into the parking lot on a Sunday morning and seeing only a half dozen cars. Conditions from tee to green were quite frankly shocking. Tees, fairways, and rough with little or no grass on them. What grass was on them was random and unkempt. There was a notice posted in the pro shop from the Carolinas Section about how the late cold winter weather had severely slowed the growth of bermuda grass, and I'm sure that has something to do with it, but every other course in the area looks a lot better than Crescent. There were large areas of fairway grass in non-playable areas where the turf had been harvested and moved elsewhere. Where I don't know, because it certainly wasn't on the course. Some bunkers had sand, others were just dirt. Most had rocks and none of them had been maintained on a Sunday morning. The one part of the course that was above average were the greens. They were in great shape. Plenty of grass on them and not many ball marks (probably due to the lack of play). The one exception is the 3rd green. They've lost the front 1/3 of the green. They need to clear out a lot of trees or get some fans back there if they want any chance of bringing that green back.
The 3rd green has been fixed and is now open. We welcome you to come back and play The Crescent and tell us what you think.
Thank you

Don't waste your money.
Went to the course and the first thing was the pro shop staff didn't like the fact we had a coupon saying "he would rather get his money now then 2 months from now", they were extremely rude. As we started playing, the course was in horrible shape. The greens were burnt out in many places, the fairways had giant bald spots with uneven grass, and weeds were overgrowing the tee boxes (which were very crooked). I was extremely disappointed because it looked like a nice course from the road. Don't waste your money, this place needs new ownership.
The Crescent is under new ownership. Please come out and give us another try.
Thank you

Thank you for playing. We do have plans to address the bunkers. Come back and see us soon.
