Not Worth $68.71
First off, I've played the course in a much better condition than what it used to be before playing April 20, 2024. I was told, you should only pay 45 or so dollars to play, I had to pay $68.71 and it was not worth the amount I paid for. The holes had grass growing over the edge and inside of every single one of them, greens had patches all over it to include a bunker that I understand was being fixed, but nothing was said in the clubhouse prior to going out. Was just not happy for the price I had to pay for. I asked for a receipt and the cashier could not figure out how the system had worked to get it for me. I had people waiting behind me so I told the young lady to not worry about it. The course was in much better shape before, it hence why I wanted to play there, but going to take a break from them for awhile until they get it back to normal. Just disappointed overall.
Lousy Condition
Course in Poor Shape...Bunkers not Raked... Little to NO Sand...Tee Boxes Barren...Greens were decent..Much Neglect on the Course..Needs LOTS of Work..Play Elsewhere
Nice place but not aging well
I've played the pines course several times but not in the past year. After the new greens were installed it was in great shape and a pleasure to play. It WAS one of the better deals in the Sandhills.
Not sure what happened but the greens were not cut and didn't look very healthy. Champion Bermuda greens shouldn't be like this especially in the summer. Now the rates were only $25 but this course is better than that.
Great place to play
The staff was great, got us out without an issue, and the course was great considering it’s the end of winter. Greens were in good shape and accepted balls well. I recommend this course.
Bang for your buck!
Always enjoy playing Whispering Pines. Great selection of different types of holes. Greens are now great. Bunkers excellent. Never go wrong with this course!
Great course
Tough long course. Swallow your pride and play from Sr tees unless you drive it 250 yards
Good value
Enjoyed the course. Price was fair. Pace of play a little slow, but we were a three-some so expected to wait some. Greens in great condition and fairways very nice. Lunch in the restaurant after the round was very good.
Would go back if in the area.
As always Whispering Pines Pines Course was in Excellent Condition. Very Friendly and Helpful Staff in the Club House. Course was Very Busy and with a 10:28 Tee Time we made it around the course in 4:15 minutes. Which is Great in a Holiday weekend. Play here if you have a chance!!
Good Course but lacking amenities
The pines course was in great shape. The fairways and greens were some of the best I have played this season. But as the heat of the day set in the greens got pretty fast. The biggest complaint is that for a CC with 2 courses there was no real food or drink options, only a mini fridge with some pastries. And that at the turn you are no where near the clubhouse to get anything even if you wanted too.
Slick greens
Greens awesome
Fairway’s still spotty
Hospitality great
Really long course
Good Course / Good Value
The Pines course was our "inexpensive" course this year and we generally enjoyed it. Greens were in good shape. Fairways had not totally greened up, but that may be due to the wet winter. We will probably play it again on some future trip
Good value for the money
We played the Pines course today and will play the River course tomorrow. The layout was interesting and enjoyable and the pace of play excellent. The course would benefit from some attention but was great value overall.
Whispering pines
Good course layout. Course in good shape. Traditional course. Friendly staff. Enjoyed the round.
Forget it
Slow. No beverage service. No marshals. Really?
A favorite classic design
Played this course several times each fall for the past 40 years. It is in superb condition from tees through greens. Course has two par 5's we call the mother holes. You'll love em or hate them, but you'll want to play them again.
The course has accommodations, called the villas. Great for groups, you can get 8 interconnecting rooms.
The second course is a great design but needs green renovations
Third time I have played the Pines course this year. It is in very good condition; greens were excellent.
Great course
Great greens. I enjoyed playing this course. Only played the Pines because it had the better reviews. Truly worth the money
My report above praised the pines course, that is sometimes called by it's old name, the East course. The River or West course was terrible
Which course did you all play of the 2? Tks
