2nd shot on par 5 scenic hole on back 9. Photo submitted by MONH1 on 05/12/2015
Crabby staff
Staff followed us around the whole back nine because they wanted the cart back so they could leave for the night. Finished at 5:40 and you would have thought we held them till an hour after dark. Very unfriendly, 220$for 4 players and you’re trying to run us off after 10 holes. I’ll play elsewhere
A bit tired...
Fairways are rough. Many worn, barren and wet, muddy areas.
Greens were fairly good and rolled true. Tee boxes...very rough.
A great setting with nice mountain views. A bit overpriced for the condition.
Beautiful Fall Day
Great day. Short course. Parts of fairways burnt out (as many courses are due to the dry conditions).
Greens for the most part in very good shape and ran true.
Very pleasant getaway play
I've XC skied here many times and now know what's underneath that snow. Some challenging holes and very picturesque with the surrounding mountains. Many wide open holes, too, but most have hazards that can punish you if you get your distances wrong.
Lovely views, horrible staff
We have been to Jackson a number of times, but never played the course, so we were excited to do so. We arrived about 50 minutes early for our tee time and checked in with the woman on staff. There is no driving range, so we putted and got organized. A couple of twosomes went off, then there was no one in site. It was now about 30 minutes prior to our tee time. In an effort to be respectful, I went inside to ask if we should go ahead and teeoff, since the twosome was on the green and no one was waiting. The gentlemen insisted they had a full tee sheet and that we shouldn't have checked in until 15 minutes before our time, even though that was nevwr mentioned by the woman who checked us in. I said no problem, we would wait. 15 more minutes go by with no one in sight. I go back in to ask if we should go ahead, and a second gentleman comes out of the office barking at me that I have to wait until our time, the tee sheet is full and I shouldn't have booked online (even though I went through THEIR website). He was so incredibly rude, even though my point was that 1) us going off was more COVID safe and 2) we were just trying to move things along. So 7 minutes before our tee time (and 3 minutes late for theirs) a 4some shows up and tees off while we are sitting there. Then we ended paired with 2 other gentleman (who were lovely, but how is that COVID safe?), who also said they booked online and were treated completely rudely. I have never in my life seen such a horrible staff. Course itself is friendly and scenic, pretty dry due to conditions, but greens were in good shape. That said, I would never set foot in that clubhouse again
Great local course
Played the course many times. Greens rebounded well from aeration last month. I enjoy playing alone which I've been able to do quite a bit this season. Would like to have better visibility of small creeks - maybe paint them on the signs at the teeboxes? Gives a better idea of yardage to hazard. Steve seems to be well versed as to who can tee off and when.
Not worth the money
I know it’s been a dry year, but the course conditions were sub par. Fairways weren’t great and the “ruff” was rock hard. Layout was a little tough, most of the holes are right on top of each other. For the amount of money it cost to play here, I expected much better conditions. Save your money and hit the local bars.
Wentworth
The greens were in very good condition but the fairways were just so so. Because the fairways weren't that great I think until they get them in better shape they should lower the price to play
Great local course
Played here many times. Good contrast between front and back nine. Be careful of many hidden hazards (small streams, marsh, etc.). Course generally in good condition but pet peeve with poor pin location markings on the flags. Small flag high on the flagstick but pin is in front of the green, and viceversa. Great checkin process and very friendly. Great pace. A bit pricey on weekends before 3:00.
