Billy Casper Golf, "Where Are You?"
This is what happens when a business man buys something that's out of his domain. This nice old gem has a terrific layout. The grass conditions weren't great but acceptable. Sand traps a wreck. The greens were fine and rolled true. Bravo to the limited staff. BUT!!
This place is teetering and could go either way. The money is being spent foolishly here. I actually played two days in a row because I liked the layout. Also I couldn't be sure it would be here much longer.$45 on Friday, $65 on Saturday. The daily rates are a bit high, and the membership rates are ridiculously low. (spoke to a few members, approx. $600 for the year). On Saturday, I saw the owner spending all day working on flower beds with a young staff member, but no one changed the cups on the greens. And I know they weren't changed before my Friday round either. There's a wonderful kitchen in the clubhouse that remains closed. That in itself could be a home run in that community. The Bar is tended by the counterman/cart guy/everything else guy. Say whatever you want, pretty and friendly bar maids attract post round consumption which equal $$. Off the bar is a deck with a beautiful view of the mountains. I was the only one sitting on it. Two others at the inside bar after a Saturday round. $$ missed. I found it sad to look at this sweet old course and see it what could be. Unfortunately, if the owner here doesn't wake up, swallow his pride and bring in an outside management team, the place is doomed. If anyone is out there with the means, Please save this course!
Quirky Layout
This was a fun golf course to play and had pretty good conditions, the greens were average speed in the fairways were in good shape. We played on a windy day so that made it a little extra tough but I really enjoyed the varying holes. There were some quirky holes like number five where your head 200 yards out and then go straight left. Also number two is in our favor because it looks as though you’re heading into the side of the hill with no target but then you come around the trees and see the green up on the hillside. Number three was also very strange with those two boxes we are playing very far out with me the whole only about 200 yards away, however it was a hard dogleg left and the trees block side of the green so you really had to kind of hidden wedge off of the Teebox box. Overall for the price I would say it was a good course and I’m looking forward to playing it again soon
Sadly neglected track
I’ve been playing here with somewhat regularity for the last few years. During that time I’ve watched as this course went downhill, turning what was a nice track into a sadly neglected mess. My best guess is management has mishandled the financial end of the business or has no interest in maintaining the investment.
Steve the Pro
The course is in really good condition considering the river flooded it 2 weeks ago. Steve the Pro (bartender, cart man, etc. sure wish that they could find help that wants to work) is amazing. He is very friendly, helpful and accommodating.
Wet in NH
With all the record rain here in NH for July, all courses are wet. But we had fun and enjoyed the challenging holes, even though it was car path only, should be due to the rain amount. Very fun course, good food in restaurant, but nothing else in the area. Mountains, beautiful..
Nice course - Great staff
The course is nicely placed inside the hills of NH. Some nice ups and downs. Some nice flats. Super nice staff!
Dry
The course was in good shape but hard, the area is very dry. With rain will really help out the firmness of the greens and fairways
Friendly Staff
Course was in good condition since we had not had any rain. Only 1 bad fairway, but otherwise in good condition.
Extremely friendly staff.
A fun course for our skill level
This is one of the go-to courses for my golfing partner and me. The course is reasonably challenging, but not frustrating. It is also very pretty (love the river intertwining throughout the course). It is the only course on which I have gotten an eagle (we play from the senior tees). We can usually make par on at least a few holes on each 18 hole round, and both of us can make birdies once in a while.
Nice course.
Great value using golf now. We we would like to go back with our course knowledge.
Pace of plkay
We have played at this course quite a bit this year, course is in beautiful condition, considering the other dried out courses. Very green and spectacular foliage sightings on this course.
Only problem this time a foursome 2 groups ahead had 4 holes open in front of them and showed no respect for holding up the entire course.
Only wish there was a ranger to move them along. Groups in front of us jumped ahead of them as they were so frustrated with waiting each hole.
