Upper Lansdowne Golf Links
About
Upper Lansdowne Golf Course originally opened as a nine-hole course in 1961, designed by local course architect Jack Kidwell. More than 30 years later, Kidwell revisited the course with Michael Hurzdan and added another nine holes. It was one of his last projects before retirement. Despite being designed at different times, Upper Lansdowne's nines seamlessly blend modern and traditional features to create a diverse course that appeals to a range of skill levels and abilities. The layout features narrow fairways lined with mature trees that are balanced with large, easy-to-read greens. Water hazards come into play on half of the holes. The golf course's signature hole is the par-3 15th, which plays downhill to a peninsula green, offering little room for forgiveness. If you don't hit the green on this hole, you'll most likely be in the water.

A good buy.
I enjoyed my round, and would play here again. The course is pretty well maintained, with the exception of the sand traps, and the layout is challenging enough to be interesting.
Beautiful course and beautiful day
This course was very nice. The golf carts are aging but run ok. The cart paths could be improved. The best part of the course was the lawn and green care. Very beautiful.
Thanks for a great day
Good course
Open year round and always a value. Good layout for beginners and above average players.
Fun course
I will say that the staff were extremely friendly, and the course had a very laid back feel to it. For a Friday afternoon, the pace of play was great. Other players were great about letting you play through if needed, and the course was nowhere near as packed as those closer to columbus for a Friday afternoon.
As some have pointed out, the cart paths aren't great, but I don't choose courses for their cart path. The layout is fun, and the rough is left rough (unlike many courses here locally), which changes the dynamic of club selection and workability of the ball since the rough is thicker than just a slightly longer fairway area. That said, the dandelion problem is a big issue. Finding a ball anywhere other than the fairway proves to be a daunting task with all of the dandelions. Use green golf balls...nope, they blend in almost perfectly to several areas of lighter colored grass on the course.
That said, this was still a very enjoyable course to play, and I will play there again...and often (especially on weekends when other courses tend to be super busy). Fun track, reasonably priced, friendly people...all on a country area course with no city noise.
Country Club Redefined
We waited over a half hour after our tee time for a cart - they didn't have enough functioning carts for the times they sold. The cart we eventually received barely ran, squealed loudly, and backfired frequently. It was covered in mud, inside and out.
The money saved by golfing here was not worth the experience. I should have stayed closer to home.
The course has an interesting layout, but seems to be struggling financially.
I've been playing this course for 50 years....and it improves EVERY year.Nice golf course.
I Don't Like to Criticize a Course in March...
But I'm going to. Even if it was a $16 round. The course could use some seeding and cleaning up, especially on a few tee boxes. #2 was especially barren. Greens were really slow as well, and on some uphill putts it required hammering the ball up there. Not going to beat it up much for the course being fairly wet. Enough of the beating this place up though. The layout has a very nice flow to it, especially when it gets to holes 14-16. The combination of a downhill par 5, a driveable par 4, and a long, uphill, and challenging par 4 could potentially swing match play if played correctly and aggressively. Sure the course conditions could use work, but the combination of the layout, the pace of play, and the fact that it's very inexpensive makes it course I would recommend to those in the area.
borrowed time in February
Spent a late February afternoon with my Brother hitting the links. The weather, you could not ask for more. The course had some misperceptions but hey it is late February and this was a week of unquestionable borrowed time from Mr Winter. The back nine seemed to be in much better shape than the front nine and offered more challenge? Course was fine for the $14 promo green fee paid.
Fun Course!
I'll preface this review by stating I had a great rate through GolfNow as well as a coupon code. I'm unsure of what the standard rates are but I would easily see myself paying $35 or $40 with card to play this course. The greens were in phenomenal shape and quick. The fairways and tee boxes were pretty rough and the grass was pretty long and definitely needed a cut. There wasn't much to the rough. When I first walked in it was an odd entrance the layout of the buildings in the parking lot and had to go into the cart Barn to get a golf cart. However the course layout was amazing and fun. If I lived in that area that would be one of my go-to courses as there was challenge but also some easier holes to play as well.
Enjoyable and well maintained course
Staff takes good care of golfers, fairways and greens good for dry summer. Cart paths being repaired after apparent long period without any attention. Overall very good value .
Fun track
Awesome greens! Fast and good shape. Fairways a little bare in spots. Cart paths are really bad. Great layout! Fun course. Worth a try. Seems to be priced right at atleast during the week. Even without golf now deals. Also nice that a guy on cart came around with water twice during our round!
Ranger on a power trip.
Four of us played Wednesday night we were greeted by the Ranger he gave us a lecture about bringing alcohol into the golf course Ben gave us a lecture on how to drive on the golf course then proceeded to follow us through our nine holes stopping at a couple times to tell us that we needed to be 90 degrees across the Fairway he was very rude he made playing golf at upper Lansdowne horrible I have golf there many times and until Wednesday it was my favorite course the other guys that I was with play there because that's why I wanted to play I won't bother them with that again as I Won't Go Back upper Lansdowne will close because of Ranger has a power trip please think that Ranger for ruining our night
This Golf Course is awesome to play every holes is different and the greens are fast and challenging very fun love it.
I will recommend this golf course to anybody its a challenging course but fun people are friendly and courteous and the fairways are wide and the green are fast thank you.
Starter was a cowboy
Starter busted us with a cooler, which was my fault I didn't read the signs so I respectfully put it back. He then preceded to put maintenance carts on stalking duty and they followed us for 4 holes because they thought we put the beer in our bag. They were legit at one put ten feet from the green we were on watching our every move. I drove 45 minutes and will never go back because some starter decided he wanted to drive around the course and take his job way too seriously when we were just trying to golf in peace
Great greens....nice value.
Gave the course a 2nd chance after a previous bad review. So in fairness today, the staff was great as they have been every round really. I found pace of play was much better today non league time apparently. The greens are great and course is as well ...like others have stated the carts and paths need a bit of help but still a great value and nice course with some very nice holes.
Great shape
They are watering this course so much it's in wonderful condition. Good food as well. The only negative thought I have was it took 3 carts to find one that was going to get us around. Wonderful course though.
