Amazing course
Was one of the most difficult and fun courses I played in a long time.
Challenging course
Drove down from Cleveland with my daughter on our way to The Memorial. We absolutely loved the scenery, the course was in great shape. Front nine is a little tricky. Hilly front requires blind shots. Having the GPS is extremely helpful, but like I have found at other courses, it would be great to have some pro tips for the layout so you know where your ball is headed. Same goes for the greens. Would be nice to see a small narrative of green slope too, eg. "this green slopes severely back to front, better to leave your ball short of the green rather than long." Little stuff like that would make this an amazing value-add. Overall, the place is beautiful, well kept and manicured, friendly staff, nice tavern. I would drive the hour from Cleveland again to play.
Great course
Overall excellent value, and challenging course. Can't say enough good things to say about this course. Will definitely be playing more rounds here from now on.
Great Course!
Great course! I'll definitely be going back in 2017. Well worth the drive from Lima,Ohio.
Staff was friendly and gave us the royal treatment.
Thanks for a awesome day of golf!
Always nice
Really nice and kept up. Good job blowing the leaves. Scenic. Elevation changes. Excellent restaurant. Gps on carts.
A true Jem
This golf course is no joke...a true jem in North Central Ohio. Fairways & greens are immaculate and the views are stunning. A must play for the casual or avid golfer. Do yourself a favor and book a round today. ( I have no affiliation with this club, just a happy first time customer )
Deer Ridge
Fun course to play. Front 9 is tree lined with lots of hills and challenging stances. Back is more wide open. Always in good shape and totally worth play.
Slow play
This was our first time at this course. We have wanted to play for some time. With the Golf Now Hot Deals we were able to play without breaking the bank. On the other hand with this great price seemed to bring out several people on the course. This course believes in booking groups of 5 which slows down any course. This made for slow play and long waiting times. We played on a late morning tee time and took over 4 hours (twosome) to play 18 while riding. To me that is too long for a public course. The course is challenging and beautiful at the same time.
Great course!
Having played a few great courses lately, I was impressed that Deer Ridge held its own. Greens were fast and challenging, but receptive. Fairways were wide but still required proper position.
The only knock is the amount of blind shots on the course. It will take a few rounds to know where to hit it and to some degree what to use of the tee. The course is short, so driver is not required.
Love the course
The course is very nicely maintained. The layout is interesting, especially the front 9. Highly recommended.
Great elevation
The Course was Great but the New GPS systems in there carts are Terrible they will lock the cart up if you are riding in what they feel is a Restricted area. When this happens it tells you to return back to the Appropriate area but yet the cart is shut down. This happened about 10 times to us yesterday and I know for a fact that some of the times we were right where we was supposed to be. This New technology feature along with the course being very crowded for a Tuesday made for a very long & annoying round. I love the course but hope this problem is fixed.
Fantastic Course
If you are in the area, this is the course to play. Rated in the top 25 courses in the state of Ohio by some websites. Lots of elevation change, lush greens and fairways and overall a very challenging course.
Deer Ridge
We played on a Tuesday and used a Golfnow Hot Deal. This was the first time playing the course and was impressed with the condition of the course. It is challenging as there are a lot of doglegs and blindshots. The staff was very friendly and the clubhouse is very nice with seating outside as well. We will definitely play this course again.
Worth the drive from Dublin
Overall, a great experience. I played here a couple of years ago and first time back. I did not remember how beautiful the setting was. The hills and the trees were so nice. Overall condition of the course was real good...the greens could use a little work but again...overall...what a nice place.
Very nice course
I would have to say the greatest attribute describing this course is the layout and design. The designer combined rolling hills on the front 9 with a fairly level back 9. Some holes are very challenging which makes it creative and fun to play. Can't wait to play it again since this was my first time. I kind of expected the greens to be a little faster, but it was an early outing so there was a lot of dew.
Huge elevation changes here!
As luck would have it, the course took on an inch or more rain within 12 hours of my play date. Course was pretty soggy in places.
The course itself is picturesque with the huge elevation changes - both up and down. Some holes are a long launch from tee box (we played blue tees) to fairway. Layout is great and rewards good shots and presents ample trouble on the not-so- good ones. We hit both there.
The greens were not in any kind of shape even on May 1. They need rolled and mowed. For the condition of the rest of the course, (tees, fairways and overall course layout) the greens were a disappointment. Bumpy, slow and shaggy, don't hold shots well is the only way to describe them.
Beware of blind tee shots. There are several and even a blind tee shot on a par-3 hole.
Overall, I will definitely go again later in the summer if it ever stops raining and dries out. The course would play much differently (shorter) with drives being able to roll out on the beautiful and well-kept fairways.
GET YOUR GREENS RIGHT!
Im a former superintendent and love your golf course. Nothing like it for miles around. The layout is superb and from tee to green it's very playable for all skill levels. Over the past couple of years though the green conditions have been sub-par. Because of the excessive undulation in the greens, the ball really needs to roll a lot truer to it's line. More topdressing and the occasional verticut would take care of this problem. A spring/fall aeration for the next couple of years would really help the ball react better on the greens especially when chipping and hitting short wedge shots. The easier you can make the greens for the mid/high handicapper the more frequent they will return.
