Chardon Lakes Golf Course

About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

Too long of a round
The course is ok but pace of play management is terrible- don’t plan on less than a 5.5 hour round any time of day on weekends
Pace of Play
This course is the worst for pace of play. I don't understand how this always happens, but we played the front in 1:30 the back took 3 hours...3 groups waiting on the tee box on multiple holes. Just pathetic spacing on the tee times and no rangers to hold anyone accountable. Play elsewhere if you can.
Fun course
Great layout. I gave 5 stars on condition because I knowingly went after a decent amount of rain so it was pretty soft in some areas. But other then that on a hot summer day this place would be great
Chardon Lakes
Had a great time playing with my wife. The fairways and greens were in good shape. Some of the greens needed work but overall a nice course.
bumpy tore-up greens
they should be ashamed charging $68 weekend rate for bumpy greens and unplayable bunkers because there is no sand in them. i realize they aeriated a couple of weeks ago, but the greens were in bad condition not related to aeriation.
Gone Downhill
Played here last Sept. Such a shame to see what has happened to course in last year. Some could be weather related, maybe some fungal problems, but also looked like a general lack of care. Too 👎
Aeration this week
Greens have been having issues. Normally very fast and tough but with aeration a bit chunky. Hardly a soul on the course giving us a 3 hr round!
Course review
Front nine is warm up for the back nine. Lots of character
Nice greens. Very fun layout.
Would definitely recommend
Chardon Lakes
Great layout. Greens were just plugged and sanded so putting was not the best. Rating would have been higher except for that.
Course in great shape
This course is always well maintained. Tee to green is moderately challenging but fair. Greens are fast with lots of breaks and slopes but rewarding when you make a lengthy one putt.
Chardon Lakes
Course was in great shape. Challenging layout and great greens. Pace of play was okay.
