Needs some TLC
The course had a nice layout. The maintenance on the course was mixed. The fairways were in great shape. Greens were a mixed bag. A few rough shape greens and some nice greens. The lake of Legend Lake was empty and an eye sore. The sand traps were not maintained. All of them had grass and weeds in them and no racks. The areas outside the greens and fairways were not cut and were beyond US Open height. Balls a few feet off fairway were impossible to find. Another sign of a lake of diligence or manpower from the greenskeepers. Overall a nice layout overshadowed by poor maintenance.
Needs Time
I could see that there are improvements on the horizon and this course could be back to roaring shape soon. Rough was way too long. Should not lose balls in the rough. I will be back and cant wait to see the improvements. The greens were the best .
Needs some TLC
Outside of the bunkers and rough being wildly overgrown, I truly enjoyed the course. I love the lay out and the challenges the course can throw at you. It needs some work on the bunkers for certain and the rough was brutally overgrown, but still worth the price of admission. Just know going in that this isn't the Private club it was in the past and the conditions reflect that, but enjoy the course for what it is and enjoy the day.
Legendarily bad greens
Lots of potential, but the course is clearly lacking funds to maintain it properly.
Avoid this course
Sad really - this course has such amazing potential. Totally unrealized potential. I played 9/4/2023 and the course was in AWFUL shape. Greens are badly diseased, the rough is so long and thick it’s almost funny, the tee boxes and badly damaged and even the fairways are mostly in bad shape. Club house is barley passable. Oh - the fun part is you have to cross a main road twice where cars are buzzing at 45 MPH with no sign warning drivers that golf carts are crossing.
Overall for the price of admission you could buy play at dozens of far better courses in NE Ohio.
Terrible greens
I called prior to the round, to ask, how are the course conditions? Specifically the greens. Guy on the phone says everything is good and the greens are good. That was a total lie. Given the round was less than $20 with a hot deal, but I would’ve rather played somewhere else because conditions were honestly unmanageable and led to a much higher score solely on the greens alone.
Bad course conditions
I’m gonna start from the beginning. When we checked in I asked where the rest room was and I was told there are 1000 trees outside. The staff was pretty rude except for the girl behind the bar. Conditions were bad to be nice! A lot of dead grass and uneven fairways the putting greens were very beat up and almost impossible to putt on. We’re we’re asked 3 times to pick up the pace & then they made us let a group of 6 older gentleman in front of us and then we were held up for the rest of the holes. It was supposed to be a good day with me and my son some time to hang out and enjoy ourselves we both ended up having the worse golfing experience either of us have ever had. If I could give a negative star review I would! There were no visual maps of the holes. Most of the ball washers were broken or had no water in them. Flat out bad experience
Legend lake
Hadn't played this course in a teally long time. Layout was fine but the course could use some TLC. The rough was really long and it was hardcto find your ball if you were off the fairway a little. Greens were good but some needed some patchinf. The sand traps were in terrible condition though and really needed to be either weeded or let go.
Looks like they're selling the property.
The whole group was disappointed with course conditions.
Solid Course Fair Price
First time playing Legend Lake, overall it’s a solid place to play. The course is in ok shape, most of the holes I’d classify as good but they’ve let a couple holes on the back 9 go (particularly the bunkers on the 13th hole). Overall I’d recommend, it, good place to play.
Excellent Course
Great layout Challenging without being too difficult Recommend highly.
Staff extremely friendly
The pace of play was very slow and the course conditions were very disappointing! Play was so slow that we just replayed 1-9 because it would have taken hours! Saw several groups of 5 also on back nine! Very disappointed and this was our first time playing here! Staff was extremely friendly and nice though!
This is a poor course on several fronts. Their website touts that 400 trees were planted during the course’s construction, but they’d be well-served to remove at least 300 of those in order to improve the turf conditions, which (even given the price point) are shockingly bad. Many greens are diseased with crabgrass infestation gone rampant in the green surrounds, fairways are noticeably bare, and green speeds/conditions vary WILDLY from hole to hole. The paddock of holes east of Auburn Road near the clubhouse, 6-7-8-9, are in especially poor shape - the routing and design of these holes is poor as well; this section of the course needs to be renovated so that conditions aren’t so dissimilar to the holes on the other side of the road. Tree removal, better turf management, and a redesign of holes 6-9 need to happen before I’d consider making a second visit.
Another course being ruined by Ownership. This is the last year for Legend Lake. Tightwad owner puts no money in course. Going to be houses in 2024. Same qwnership as Fowlers Mill, which is going downhill fast.
