Blue Heron Pines Golf Club
The Blue Heron Pines Golf Club consists of two award-winning courses called the East and the West. Located 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City, these public golf courses provide a challenging game and have been touted by many New Jersey publications as the best 18-hole course on the Jersey Shore.
Each golf course had a different designer so they do have some differences. The West Course is relatively flat with narrow fairways and fast greens. Water hazards also come into play on seven holes. The East Course on the other hand features wide fairways and difficult bunkers. The East Course also follows a links-style layout and is meant to be played fast and firm. For those who want to play the courses but aren't at the top of their game yet, the club offers golf instruction.

Golf Advisor: Top Courses in New Jersey
Nice day, course in good condition. Pace of play 4 hrs 30 mins. Not bad for a Sunday afternoon. Greens were fast but playable. Will play again.
Nice conditions but.......
So we had a 2:24 “hot deal” which probably gave us just enough time to finish by sundown, but when we got to the course, we discovered that they sent a full tournament out at 2pm, and we all know a tourney usually always takes over 5 hours to play - if course we didn’t finish and with nobody to complain to (how convenient) except for the ranger, they have no responsibility to their customers - It’s a shame because the course was in really nice shape, but we won’t be back anytime soon !!!
Charge me for no show even though I called.
I cannot comment on course because I did not play. I made tee time less than 24 hours in advance but unfortunately had a family emergency the afternoon before my scheduled tee time. I tried to cancel on GolfNow but due to 24 hr cancelation policy they refused. So I called course and they refused saying I had to cancel with golfnow. THey promptly charged my credit card through GolfNow. Will never play there and never use GolfNow again. Ironically, it was also raining at the time of my tee time. I tried to do the right thing by calling them and telling them I would not show so they could re-book or send a walk-on out. But they still charged for all golfers. I could see charging a 1 golfer no show but all of us (it was only a twosome).
Little over priced
We arrived close to our tee time when I went into the pro shop and I asked them if they were on time on for the tee time because we wanted to hit balls the pro shop cashier gave me attitude saying “yes” well they weren’t. I then asked if they had rain gloves he gave me attitude again and said “did you even look over here and it’s not going to rain” well I knew he was wrong. But with that attitude I wasn’t buying anything. The course is not that bad but for the price so many other nice courses in the area to play. I wouldn’t play for 99 again probably only worth a $60 tops. Sand traps frequently had boulders in them and the lost some fairways. The course needs some love.
The course was in decent shape. The layout is great and the place is beautiful. Staff was helpful and friendly. I will go back.
The course was a quagmire. It should have been closed! 90% of the bunkers had multiple inches of standing water. They all need to be redone. The cart path was flooded in several area. The fairways are abysmal. There are real problems with this course. It needs a lot of maintenance.
As an avid golfer who has been playing many top rated New Jersey courses, I was very disappointed in the condition. Overrated and overpriced.
T Boxes: 2/5 Poor
Fairways: 2/5 Poor
Greens: 4/5 Nice
Overall: 2/5 Below Average
Take the bad reviews with a grain of salt
They are air raiding the fairways so it’s going to be a bit rough... other then that the course was in great shape.. tough course... could be a little bit cheaper for what your getting... with the exception of the number 1 hcp, the water does not come into play...
Major disappointment on trip to the shore
Upon booking, I had high hopes that this was going to be a solid course for the money based on previous reviews. Our group was disappointed to say the least. The course was in very poor condition. Fairways 7, 13, and 17 were basically dirt, and the bunkers throughout were rock hard. Greens were long and filled with goose $h!?. The rest of the course was spotty to say the least.
Layout was okay, but not worth the price of admission, especially considering how poor the conditions were. They really should shut this place down until they get it back in playable condition. I really wish we had played somewhere else.
The only redeeming aspects were that the facilities are clean and the staff was friendly.
