Not worth more than $20.00
Course is in pretty rough conditions. No "wow" holes or anything worth mentioning. All sand traps were out of play and was told to take a free drop. I saw comments about the staff not being friendly but I thought they were nice. If you can get 18 holes and a cart for like 15 bucks it's worth a try but I wouldn't spend more than that.
We like to play Dorlon
Wife and I enjoyed our 18 holes of golf and were able to play at a relaxed pace. Weather was hot in the upper 80's but with a breeze most of the time and shade from trees was tolerable. Only two of the greens needed some extra attention the rest were in good condition.
This course is terrible
From the minute I walked in I was treated poorly by the staff. I was treated like a child at a course that was in terrible condition. The course was all mud and it had not rained for a while. On half the holes I had to move the ball back 20 feet just to find a small patch of grass to hit off of. The sand traps were made up of dirt and most had standing water in them. The greens were extremely patchy and the stimp rating was in the low single digits. I would not suggest this course to anybody.
Good quick weekday 18
I played 18 in like 2.5 hours by myself. The people I ran into were all really friendly. The back nine gets to be more challenging. Trees hover over 13 and a wacky dogleg awaits at 14. I would certainly recommend rhis course for a fun round sometime if you haven't tried it yet.
Staff not very friendly.
Staff not very friendly, or even cordial for that matter. The less time spent in the clubhouse, the better.
Good Course to Practice
For the price of the hot deal, the course was great for practice.
Course was Terrible
Fairways were extremely hardpan (concrete)"
As well tee boxes uneven. Just overall lousy course conditions. As other reviews stated, not worth the price.($25)
Maintenance is poor for a course that has potential
Greens are slow, fairways and rough have excessive cut grass, course does not drain well. It appears that a lack of customers because the condition of the course is so poor that maintenance is compromised. Course needs a lot of work
The clubhouse reeked of cigarette smoke, the female owner had to be smoking in her office. She acted indifferent and was not friendly, although we brought two foursomes on a Saturday morning. The only good thing about this course is the availability of tee times from lack of play.
This course has character and some challenge even for an average golfer.
After 8 + inches of rain this course is in great shape. The greens are fast and true. There is definition between rough and fairways. The prices and specials are the best in the area.
This course was water.
There was an abundont amount of water on the course. The fairways had a lot of water and extremely soft. It didn't rain that much the days previous to playing. The drainage is not good. The greens were pretty slow. I am not going to spend the money to go back there. Its not worth it.
So much potential
Ok, so here's the thing about Dorlon. Fantastic deal if you get a Hot Deal, if not, you're paying too much. The conditions are average at best. The course has loads of potential, but there is a complete lack of TLC. Dorlon is a very nice layout, but can you PLEASE just cut the fairways! And mow the greens! The course is rough around the edges to begin with, but simply mowing the fairways to a playable length, and mowing the greens would have an immediate impact on the course. The course is currently in playable condition, but if it gets any worse I would be very concerned for the future, considering this is prime time for 5-star course conditions. If you like to play different courses just for the experience and have never played Dorlon, I would recommend picking up a Hot Deal, otherwise go play somewhere else.
the course was in good shape aftet all the rain
The course was in great shape after all yhe rain we had wwould definitely play again
Poorly kept
The course is set up interestingly, lots of dog legs and a big of water, but the course is an absolute disaster from a quality standpoint. I've never written a review before but the amount of patches and cut grass clumps that had turned brown in the fairways was ridiculous. Fairway grass was cut very long and the tee boxes were uneven and hard to find a flat spot to tee up on. I'd pay $10 to play here, but $30, a really bad deal...
Bring a GPS and Top-Flites
This course is not the biggest dog patch out there but its close. There are no yardage markers on most holes and the course is several hundred yards shorter per the GPS (GolfLogix) than the socrecard indicates. There were times that we had difficulty finding our balls in the middle of the fairway. There fairway was the rough and the rough was overgrown dandelions or hardpan. Most holes are framed with large old trees but if you get a little wild, the area beyond is filled with ruts and holes and you will not find your ball. The greens were inconsistent and for playing on Memorial Day weekend, it felt more like August, course very dry. It was wide open and we played quickly.
Decent Value
This course has a decent layout and a good amount of length. Lots of big trees on the back 9. The greens are in good shape, but the fairway, rough, bunkers, and path all need work. Certainly not the best course but definitely not the worst. Take it for what it is and you'll have a good time.
A good place to score!
Wide open and flat. Great greens that are obviously taken care of. Friendly staff. Enjoyable round.
Needs work
I played by myself since there weren't many others on the course. Although the greens were in great shape the rest of the course was in poor shape. The cart path was filled with potholes. The fairways were torn up with many mud holes. The staff is very friendly and the grounds men were out working. Hopefully the course will get better as the season unfolds. Right now there's not much value at $21.
Good Value but Course Needs Work
The staff is super friendly and do their best to ensure your experience is enjoyable. The course has potential, but needs some overall work. The greens had been aerated recently, so putting was tricky. Under normal conditions, they would be a nice challenge as all of the greens are sloped or undulating. The range balls were very old and difficult to hit. The folks playing the course were very friendly and let me play through without having to ask. I would recommend this course as a good value, especially for someone looking to play a quick round to get in some practice.
