A sneaky long course with perfectly manicured greens
The course has some nice par four's and par there's that will challenge any skill level golfer. The greens putt so well the pace is perfect and they are consistent from 1-18. Once you get the speed down putts will track nicely to the hole. I will play Dorlon again soon.
Bucket of balls or Dorlon?
Guess it all comes down to what your looking for. Tee boxes have little to no grass. Bunkers have weeds and grass in them and hard as a rock.Greens are ok. Not worth 30.00. If you can get it on Golf Now for 15.00, ask yourself if you want a course or range?
Fly Problem
This course filled with nasty flies. Just as you are trying to concentrate on your shot the fly's would buzz around your head and face. This was especially bad on the back nine. It was sooooo bad you could not wait to hit your shot and get back on the cart a drive.
The course is falling apart and the only good thing was the greens were in good condition. They are not keeping up with cutting the rough there are clumps of grass. Sad because it is a nice track and it needs a lot of attention. The staff was excellent and very nice! The fly's were terrible and ruined my day!
Great little course
This was my first time playing this course. It was really fun. The greens were very fast and well maintained. The owner Debbie was extremely nice, if only other courses could have a Debbie when you checked in...
The tee boxes were rock solid, so it was a little difficult getting tees in the box and the fairways are a little longer than they should be, but it wasn't terrible.
I will definitely play here again especially for the price.
dorlon
fairways maint needs to pick up cut grass. overall was a pleasant experience.
Local favorite
Dorlon is a typical family owned course. You will generally deal with the owner, Debbie, and she is an absolute sweetheart. The course has struggled to stay afloat for years, and could be in danger of closing. Their player base is mostly made up of locals who just enjoy a relaxing round of golf. The course is fairly long, but flat. The greens are always in great shape, even if they are a bit on the slow side. There are plenty of water hazards, and playable sand bunkers.
If you are looking for a 1st class track, you won't be happy, but if you are looking for an enjoyable "feel good course", this fits the bill.
In 2016 they are offering a new simple pricing structure, $20 for 18/cart during the week, and $30 for 18/cart on weekends. If you want to play a decent course, at a cheap price, Dorlon is an excellent choice.
My Fun Day at Dorlon
I have all way's loved this courses layout. It had rained all week prior to our round so it was a little mushy here and there. It was still playable. give it a week or so to dry out and it will be great again.
It is what it is
I've been going to this coarse for 4 years now. It just fits my eye I guess. I don't go here expecting Firestone conditions, but I'm also not paying $100+ per round. It's family owned and operated and that's what your getting. Some tee boxes are a little long, fairways do blend in with rough, some greens have some blemishes, and amount of rainfall does affect the conditions. But overall, I like it there. It's relatively cheap. The owner is always nice, honest, and welcoming. I will continue to go here and enjoy my rounds.
Overall pretty good
The staff was very friendly and down to earth. Made us feel welcome and like a friend. The course was pretty nice. Not something to put in a magazine and not something to complain about. I enjoyed the game and day very much and I am excited to return soon.
Could be very nice
Extremely dry conditions throughout with lots of dead areas causing thin lies or hard pan. Tee boxes almost required a hammer to get the tee in. Greens were watered but kept very long which didn't allow them to roll true. Staff was friendly and there was a beverage cart.
Good for every player.
Overall course in good condition. Very wide fairways. Greens in excellent condition. Some cart ruts due to our extremely rainy season but most area marked by flags to help navigate. The "T's could use some grooming but not bad. Personnel absolutely as friendly as could be. Beer cold, hotdogs hot. Who could ask for anything more. Will play again.
It was a great day for golf
It was a beautiful day, weather sunny, a breeze, mid 70's. a few spots were soggy the main course was in good shape despite all the rain. some of the cart paths need repair. enjoyed the day and our round of golf.
where's the fairway!?
Pretty good price (didn't know the reservation fees was $9, it woulda been cheaper calling the place directly) for cart and 9.
My biggest gripe was that the course had no fairways, it seemed like light rough all over the place.
Again value price, but not well maintained...
One for the money...
Got a great deal on Golf Now and the course was well worth the cost. Traps were under construction and the fairways weren't much different than the rough, but still a decent course.
Great value
One of the best course I've played this year and hardly ever a big crowd...I did 18 holes in 3 hours! Very friendly staff and well kept. ..
Wide open and well kept
Clubhouse a little dated, but comfortable atmosphere. Course well kept, wide fairways. Large greens with some challenging pin placements.
Improved with age!
1st time I've played the course in 30 years. The trees weren't as tall then as they are now. Makes the course much more challenging than it used to be. Glad I played because it was a beautiful day and the course wasn't getting too much play this day. This facility has a great deal of potential if the owners wanted to make it so!!!
Never Again
You can't tell the difference between the fairway, rough, and tee boxes. They are all the same. I can' t believe how many weeds and dandelions were on this course. And there were more bare spots than grass. The ground was very hard. In the few spots where they had sprinklers, they flooded the area, I guess to make up for the rest of the course being overly dry? It was impossible to get a decent lie, even in the middle of the fairway. Also, every single bunker was "under repair". Absolute waste of money. I will never golf here again.
very friendly staff and great value
Employees are very helpful and nice. I think that this course is a great value for the money in northeast Ohio. Its moderately challenging and each hole offers its own challenges especially on the greens.
Course is making an effort to improve
Have gone to other courses in past due to dislike of forward tee boxes. Course is making an effort to provide an even tee off surface. Would play there again.
