Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 05/2020.
The Eagle Course at Kittyhawk Golf Center is one of three courses at the facility, the other two being another regulation length course and an executive, 18-hole course. These courses are three of only six municipal golf courses in the Dayton area. The Eagle Course is the longest being 400 yards longer than the other regulation course, the Hawk Course. The terrain is flat, making it an easy walk. The fairways are wide open and the greens are large. In addition to several sand bunkers and a scattering of trees, there are man-made lagoons that come into play on 16 holes.

Pricy average public couse
Greens were above average on upkeep. But the guy who cuts the hole placements needs to learn how to properly reseat the previous days hole. Each green had over 10 visible old holes with major surface issues around the edges of the old hole. Bunkers were 50/50 (50% rocks-50% compacted sand. It had not rained in the last 48 hours. Tee boxes were beat up but it's at the end of the summer so to be expected. Faiway heavily splotchy in places more so than what I thought was acceptable for the end of summer.
Overall a sub par course good staff and good food. But not with the price.
Normal daytime weekday rate was 40+. Luckily I used golfnow.com and got a hot deal for 22.
Slow pace
Very windy day, with slow pace , 1 cart girl trying to service all courses. Don't know if it was the wind or inexperienced golfers but eagle played slow, bunched up 3 groups on several holes!
Good community course. Longest of three courses there. Has beverage cart.
Kittyhawk Eagle Course
Course is tougher than you think especially on the long par 3's
This city course has
3 eighteen hole courses. We were to originally play the eagle course but had a screw up somewhere and a outing was ahead of us which would have put us behind on our tee time by 30 minutes or so. They did however switch us to the hawk and we were very happy about that. Things worked out fine. Only issue we had for as much rain as we have had the Tee Box's were very very hard and could hardly get your tee in the ground. The course itself was in great shape for a city run course... The Rangers were awesome as well
Excellent Condition
Teed off at 8am on the Eagle Course. Course was in amazing condition. My partners and I were the first out for the day so we did not have to wait one time whilst also not being rushed.
A lot of water on this course and a lot of sand. Makes it very challenging but also very rewarding when you stay away from the two (which I did not :/).
Definitely be back to this course again.
Very Average
Kittyhawk is your typical public course. You'll find that if there's been good rain that year, which we have had this year, the rough will be thick and difficult to hit out of and the fairway will have less holes and dry spots. It's very difficult to find loose balls on this course as well. The bunkers are like those at almost all public courses, they are just there and they aren't as nice to hit out of when compared to courses with 'real sand and raked bunkers.' Overall, I really enjoy the layout and playing during the week can almost guarantee speedy play. Don't try to play here on the weekends though as they don't push groups along, they encourage slow play, and you'll find golfers are arrogant and rude when it comes to passing on the weekends.
Eh
I had never played here and being from Cincinnati I thought it may be fun to make the 30 min trip to try somewhere different. This place has 3 18 hole courses and when I saw The Eagle (7100 ish yards from the tips) I knew that was the one I wanted to play.
I eventually found the clubhouse, checked in and got the cart key. My cart (#43) had a huge hole ripped on the drivers side. I literally sat on foam and not the actual seat. The cart had no windshield and struggled the whole round.
This course has some interesting hole layouts but some of the maintenance lacks. The fairways are too tall (and just recently cut) and the rough is nearly impossible to find a ball in.
I think i'd try this course again in the summer but I certainly wouldn't pay rack rate.
sixsome in front
First time and a single. Six golfers teed off in front of me. Clubhouse let me go off on 10 or it would have taken all day to play. Course in rough shape. Too long for a 73 yr old even from the front tees.
Pace of play is brutal
This was the second time i played this course this year and i swore i wouldnt come back after the first time. i should have listened to myself. the course is overall a decent course pretty well maintained but both times ive gone this year its been at a crawling pace. first time i came here we finished 18 in almost 5 hours because we were waiting on so many people. the second time it took us 42 min to play one hole...needless to say i left after the second hole. no play through options to many people. and the course marshall wouldnt allow us to skip holes. so in other words if you go to the golf course just to bs and eat food this is the place for you
Better courses around
Course is not marked well. I've played a lot nicer courses in the area. Rangers are essentially non existent on the course. The course is old but not maintained well. Buckets not raked and fairways are cut but lots of weeds.
Kittyhawk Eagle course
Course is in poor condition. Roughs are uncut and infested with dandelions. Majority of sand traps have little to no sand present and are scattered with rocks and weeds. Course is over priced for its current condition.
decent course
Its a decent course for the money. I wish they would mow better and rake the traps though. The eagle>hawk>falcon.
Course review
Greens in good shape, but no Tee box markers. The sand traps are atrocious! If your gonna have sand traps, put in some SAND and keep them groomed! Restaurant closed for season.
This course isn't too bad
For the price it's worth it. 3 different courses for skill levels
