Could have been better.
We have played here in past years and had a better experience. We teed off at 3:00 and did not finish until 8:15. On the turn the gentleman who checked us in told us the carts need to be in by 8:15...we said we are trying. Never saw anyone come around the course to try and speed up play. Had to wait on every tee. We planned to have dinner after in their tavern as we had enjoyed that in previous years. Since it was taking so long to golf I checked their website to see how late the tavern was open. Said 10:00 so we thought no problem. We sat down, ordered drinks and dinner. Then at 8:30 they turned off the TV and started clean up for closing. We asked our server about that and they just said the website is wrong. Upon waiting for the check we decided to just go to her and she actually asked what we wanted to tip. Overall not a great evening.
Nope !!
No cart path. No water to drink. Fairways are saturated. Tee boxes are very uneven. Marshals don't help to keep pace of play, but will harass you if you are a single. Looks a lot like an old field or cow pasture they tried to turn into a golf course. Club house is a choppy maze. Parking lot is atrocious.
Not a good value at all.
Very nice layout
First time playing here and enjoyed the round. Played white tees but will play blues in the future. White just too short on most holes if you hit driver more than 250. Greens were great with good break. Not really a course to walk as tee boxes are a bit dar to walk from hole to hole. Played Saturday morning and no food/drink available until lunch time so eat or get coffee before your early tee time.
Challenging but a lot of fun
Right when you pull in and see the clubhouse you know this course is the real deal. Course layout was challenging but a lot of fun! Greens and sand traps were well kept. Loved the views of some of the holes.
Nice Course for $50
Early in the year and the course was in fine shape. However, I can play 2 months from now and it will be in the same shape. This is max a mid $50 course. I do not understand those who pay the $70+ fees to play this course when there are soo many others with nicer layouts for less money. The Niclaus team tried to help but seems to be a bit much for this group to give the course the TLC it needs.
Remember, no driving range at this course so be ready to play!
Beautiful
Amazing course! My favorite course in the area! I think this is one of the most serene places to play in the area! Highly recommend!
Cow pasture is better...and no rude staff!!
My other two players stopped for +10 min at the turn. The two groups behind me were waiting for us on #10. I hit and went to keep pace of play. Marshall found me on #13 and harassed me about not waiting for my other players.
Seems like they love a 330 yd hole...they have the same hole like 10 times...boring. The course seems to be a failed course that recently got a big cash flow to get it going again. Fairways are very wet. Tee boxes have significant slope...hooks for right handers!! Club house is a confusing maze.
Far better courses out there!!
Not such a great course.
For all the touting this course does about being the only Nicklaus designed course in the area, it doesn't live up. From pulling into the course, you instantly are greated with a driveway that has potential to be amazing line it with flowering trees it'd be like driving into Augusta, then the parking lot full of pot holes and hasn't been replaced since it was spring valley and in very bad shape, the club house is very nice, restaurant, bar, golf simulators and in great shape, pro shop is lacking in items to buy or at least displayed. Better selection of clubs, balls, accessories would be nice. The golf carts are okay and work but the cubbies are to tight to get big hands in and are basic, would like to see some newer updated carts maybe with built in gps screens. The course tee boxes were in average shape would be nice to have a sand/ seed box on them to repair iron divots as there are many. Fairways were in good shape as were sand traps( mostly weed free) the rough needs work as there is a decent amount of weeds mixed in it. Putting greens were nice and in good shape. Unfortunately the car paths (if you want to call it that) make this course unbearable to navigate more bumps and pot holes than the parking lot. The carts are not comfortable enough to drive on that surface conditions. For $50+ if expect a starters or rangers to help keep the pace of play moving along, I didn't see one the whole time. This course could be good with more of an investment in the infrastructure, staffing and amenities. Lack of bathrooms even portapotties is annoying when you see many people peeing on the course. No beverage cart traveling around. Very disappointed that they are relying on the Nicklaus name to deliver a subpar course, customer service and experience. Not worth $55 at that price the should be able to afford nice cart paths.
