Greate Bay Golf Club
About
The course at the Greate Bay Golf Club is an 18-hole course and although it is semi-private, the Club has an "open" guest policy. The beautiful location in Somers Point, NJ makes is an ideal distance from Ocean City and Atlantic City. It is also located within walking distance to Great Egg Harbor Bay.
A Scotsman, Willie Park, Jr., designed the golf course with a traditional links-style layout. Accurate shot-making is required due to the bay breezes, hazards, and elevation changes. Although it is a semi-private course, membership at Greate Bay Golf Club often costs less than a membership at many public golf courses.

Greate Day...
... at Greate Bay. An enjoyable course. It is very forgiving for errant tee shots. The challenge is on the greens, very quick and undulating. My favorite hole was #12, short par 4, dogleg left, over the pond.
First Time at this Gourmet Course
I had the opportunity to play this very nice course as part of a SJGA tournament. Normally, I would play this course from the white tees, but because of my very advanced age (62), I was required to play from the gold tees (about 5,500 yards). I found the course to be relatively easy from these tees. The most difficult part of the course was on the greens which were fast, and some of which had more undulations than others. There was only one water hazard that I could recall on the entire course. Considering the heavy rains earlier in the morning, the course was in excellent shape. Also, considering that the course is close to beach resorts, I would expect to see more sand in the bunkers. Overall, I recommend this course for a nice easy going round of golf.
