Nice course, good value
Course in decent shape....greens very good to putt on. Good pace of play. Players seem to move along pretty well here with no problems most times that I've played.
Nice course, good value
I love playing here. Played 18 in 2 1/2 hours. Greens in great shape, course was in good condition over all.
Has some interesting holes with challenging dog legs and hits over water. It would be helpful if there were some yardage indicators on scorecard or on course giving an idea of distances of dogleg hitting areas. #14 is kind of a zig-zag double dogleg...I smoked a 7 iron on second shot and knocked it into the woods straight out from me because I had to guess yardage. and I was wrong about how far it was. Not a big complaint, just would help with club selections on a couple holes, and it's irritating to hit a really good shot, but hit it too long because you had to guess yardage.
Fine Afternoon - sure beats working!
Raccoon Hill was a decent course - I'm clearly not a pro and my game doesn't demand a top notch facility. For the reduced price, you can't ask for anything more! The grass was primarily green, my foursome was great and the weather was spectacular. In my opinion this makes for a Win / Win / Win. Enjoy and keep your eye on the ball.
Nice course, good value
Course is in good shape....greens really nice to putt on. Great pace of play...2 & 1/2 hours.
Only negative thing I could say is a couple of ball washers handles were broke, but I enjoyed the course, I hadn't played there in several years. I will definitely go back.
First time playing Raccoon Hill. Based on the ratings, expected a bit more but all is well especially for the price paid. Some impressions for a round in August 2019:
- fairways were hard and needed some TLC. Ball rolled a lot which was nice, but you often needed to move the ball a bit to have it upon a bit of grass to hit. Also no real definition between fairway and rough.
- tee boxes need some work. Only a couple were "Rock hard" as other reviewers have noted. Most were OK. Many were crowned which made finding a level teeing spot hard. Others also needed some TLC as they were either weedy, a bit shaggy, and/or filled with lots of divots (and these were on par 4 & 5 holes which had me wondering how you take a divot with a driver or 3-wood.
- greens and aprons were well taken care of. You can tell it was here where they invested in the watering and grounds keeping. I don't fault them for prioritizing this area.
- Wish that holes 13 and 14 had some better information about yardage as they are some crazy dog-legs. While the pro-shop did give you some tips, a simple sign such as "180 yards to landing area" for #13 or "170 yards to bend" on #14 would've been appreciated.
This is a laid back golf course. You'll find more people likely wearing sneakers than golf shoes here and also friends and parents with kids out for a fun round. Keep that in mind and Raccoon Hill can be a fun round of golf.
Good course with some challenging holes. Course would be top notch if the ponds were not green with algae. For the price this course will definitely be in the rotation.
5.5 hours for a round on Sunday. had hacks in front of us that were laying 15 before getting to the green. Ranger would not hurry them on. course is average easy I did not play my best there
Awful, Stay Away!!
First time playing here and the last. Horrible conditions, hard fairways and tees(bring a hammer) Slow play 6 hours really?? no ranger, goofy back 9 like it was designed by a 12 yr. old. A stupid Z hole par 5 and a 240 yd par 4 that doglegs, my wife could have designed a better back 9.Horrible!! The greens were decent but that's it. Fox Den is just down the road. Skip this dog track
Dried out rock hard fairways. Bunkers that play like the cart path, a layout that makes no sense. Ponds filled with algae. Only three sets of tees. No yardage signs near tee boxes. Tee boxes so hard you can barely get the tee in the ground. Kind of like playing in your neighbor’s yard if the had put in his own course. I’m not a golf snob by any means but really? Other courses in the area are in much better shape.
No ranger, no pace of play
Dried out fairways, and no ranger to speak of. Made several calls to clubhouse based on taking it almost 6 hours to play 18, no response. Pro brushed off my wife when mentioned issues of slow play.
Great Course Overall if you’re not a golf snob
Overall this course is great. The value is perfect. The staff is friendly. The speed is slower but if you’re just trying to enjoy the outdoors it’s no big deal. Every golfer I run across has been friendly and offers to play through if delayed. Great place to play for beginners and intermediate golfers. Back 9 is a bit more of a cluster but nothing to complain about.
I play this course all the time and have a blast. Yes you have small speakers people bring for some music on the course but it’s not an issue.
If you are a highly skilled golfer looking for a fast top of the line course go somewhere else. You’re only going to bother the casual players with complaints about slow pace.
If you are looking for a fun day on the course with your friends and aren’t worried about playing with beginners Raccoon Hills will give you a great time for your money!
A challenging course. I really enjoyed my game!
Can’t wait to come back in Aurora and play this course again. It’s in a very scenic area and the course was in great condition.
Not great, but prices were fair.
Pace of play was a death march. Lots of 'new' golfers wihich is fine, but they weren't familiar of the concept of ready golf. Course does not drain well, we played in some rain and greens were partially underwater.
greens were a horrible mess and water does not drain at this course at all. tons of swamps everywhere.and no they arent supposed to be there.
Nice course...great value
Some tee boxes are in rough shape but fairways and greens are fine especially considering how much rain there's been. Great staff and friendly bar.
Raccoon Hill - It's been 20 years
Played this course for the first time in over 20 years! My wife played along though she hadn't even golfed in over 20 years. The course is a bit rougher than what it was last time I golfed it but still has some interesting holes. They have let the tall grass grow around the fairways though the fairways and greens were in good condition except for a few wet areas due to all the rain. It was a relaxed pace of play, a beautiful day and we had fun. For the price we paid you can't beat it.
