Fox Hollow Golf Course
Fox Hollow Golf Course in Somerville sprawls across acres of rolling woodlands, offering dramatic elevation changes throughout the par-70 layout. Designed by local designer Hal Purdy, the abundant trees and hilly terrain have been deftly incorporated into the course. Originally built in 1967, the golf course was completely redesigned in 2000 to make it more challenging while at the same time improving its playability. Since its renovation, it has garnered a local following but it is still one of the better kept secrets of Somerset County, making it likely that golfers will be able to play the golf course regardless of the day or time. In addition to the course, there is also a practice facility with a grass driving range, a bunkered practice green, and an expansive putting green. One reason Fox Hollow G.C. is a popular choice, besides the enjoyable layout, is the affordability it offers.

Design and layout of the course- top notch.
Multitude of elevation changes to challenge all golfs.
Nice golf course with good weather
Fox Hollow is a good semi-private course that you should not miss. The layout is good. The course condition always in good shape.
Ball strikers couse
Great day fun course with a lot of turns and angles and elevation changes.
Not my favorite
The course wasn’t in great condition, lots of weeds on fairways, greens hadn’t been aerated but had whole punched throughout. Don’t love the layout, lots of greens are uphill and blind.
Thanks for playing Fox Hollow and I appreciate your feedback. I beg to differ, there are hardly any weeds on the fairways, I toured it this morning with our superintendent and the fairways are weed free. The roughs do have the normal springtime Dandilions, which we will spray out now that the wet weather has passed.
We did recently vent the greens with a "needle tine" which is vital to green health but does not impact the ball's roll.
I can't do anything about the layout, but hope yo have you back soon - we are installing taller green flags on the two holes with blind uphill approaches so that you can better gauge your shot.

Fox Hollow Vol 1
Fox Hollow has an interesting layout. A mix of grip it & RIP it and target golf hikes. Most of the greens are relatively small and undulated. Hilly in alot of spots brings the challenge quotient up. If you're going to play, pick the right tees for your game. The staff is friendly and accommodating . Worth my drive from NYC
Challenging Layout Multiple Elevations
The course was in great early Spring condition. The bunkers has sand. Greens were in good shape. The course was cart path only. The hilly nature of the course will have you make adjustments for lies and elevations.
I would highly recommend this course.Few courses offer so much for so little. The staff treated us like we were members of the club and the course itself is phenomenal. The day we played the greens were running at a 10 on the stimp which made putting quite the challenge. The layout is up down and around hills, valleys and streams. This meant strategy not brute strength was going to win the day. The conditions from the tee boxes, fairways and greens were all perfectly kept. Kudos to the superintendent for the work they have done. Not many courses look this good this early in the season. I will definitely be heading back to Fox Hollow sooner rather than later!
Course is not for the novice
Very friendly staff and course conditions were good especially the greens considering the early season weather. This is a course where you need to be an experienced golfer who can hit the ball fairly straight as there are many slopes and ups and downs. Accuracy is much more important than distance. There are 4 or 5 greens where the slope is severe and you have to be below the hole to avoid a 3 putt or worse. Play can be slow 5 hours plus especially when it’s cart path only so take that into account. I will return several times this season and the overall package is better than most in NJ.
Thanks for coming out and we welcome your comments. Now that the weather has warmed up and the grass is growing we can control the green speeds better, so hopefully no more three-putts.
Our pace of play averages less than 4 hours most days and we try to patrol it carefully, so hopefully your next round will move along better.

Booked a 12:10 thru golf now. Huge line on the first tee. Apparently some people started on the 4th hole and were coming around to play the first 3 holes. Staff assured us that the golf course would be clear after the 3rd hole. Finally teed off at 12:50 and took 5hrs to play 18. Had to let a group play thru at the turn because the hot dogs (we ordered on 9th tee) took 20mn to prepare. Terrible experience and will not be returning.
Very good conditions
NJ has been deluged with rain throughout the winter. This has made it difficult for the Greens Keepers. But this course was in very good shape. Because of the wet you did not get much roll-out of your ball. Nor were the greens as fast as they usually are. But this is Mother Nature's fault, not the course.
Thanks. We are drying out and I've been told that the greens are the best they have been for March. We are rolling them daily and only have mowed one so far, but with this warm spell (finally) they will be mowed daily from here on out.

good value for the price
Course was wet in spots but generally in good conditions Be prepared for hills if you like a flat course you won’t like this one Water in play on several holes makes it interesting I will play here again
First time at this course realy liked the layout but the big surprise were the greens considering we played end of March they were fast & true
Well worth the trip
This course deserves all the good reviews it received.
The layout and condition for this time of year is excellent. The staff we met were all really friendly.
Would like to play it again in better and warmer conditions but we all enjoyed the day.
It’s a good challenging walk if you choose to and a great price on GN.
