The Foxfire at Foxfire Golf Club
About
The Foxfire is the original course at Foxfire Golf Club. It was later joined by the Players Club Course in 1993. Foxfire has a classic design that is slightly less challenging than its sister course but no less enjoyable. The fairways are more forgiving but there are strategically placed bunkers as well as lakes and streams that come into play on a number of holes in order to balance the more player-friendly features. The layout is demanding but fair. The golf course's signature is the lengthy penultimate hole that measures 629 yards from the tips. This uphill par 5 requires a tee shot past a creek and then an uphill approach shot to a green that is well guarded by water on the right and trees on the left.

Good challenge
This course has many narrow tee shots, so you need to be accurate. Greens are very undulated and had some tricky hole placements. This was the first time I have played this course, but I really enjoyed it.
Very difficult course, but well maintained.
This is a fantastic course, but can be quite challenging for the average golfer. I would recommend this course for people of all skills as long as you don't mind having a high score. As always try to get a good hot deal through Golf Now and enjoy.
CANE PATCH!!!
The course was in ok shape at best. tee boxes were in horrible condition (some didnt even have grass on them). on some holes, it was hard to tell where the fairway was (fairways looked liked a backyard cut slighter shorter). the greens were decent. the rough needed to be cut down a little more. spent all round looking for balls and could not find a lot of them. at first i thought it was just our group but if you looked around the course, i noticed that a lot of groups were looking for their balls. this led to the slow pace of play. could be a decent course if the course was maintained.
Great course and amenities for a great price
After my first experience at Foxfire, seriously looking at membership options. Great course at a great value.
Slow greens
Despite the recent rains, the course was playing pretty fast...except for the greens. Greens we're fairly smooth, however, were some of the slowest I've ever played on. Fairways were average. Course was on the lower end of maintained. Value is OK, $25 for a holiday riding is tough to complain about. One saving grace was that the pace of play was pretty good for a holiday.
Pretty course with some challenging holes.
Back nine longer and more difficult than front. Overall a good experience
Course is average
Fox Fire is an average course and has a couple of challenges. The course today was in very good condition the greens were good, They held approach shots and putting was very good, I would recommend the course to anyone for a good round of golf at a reasonable price.
Great course.
Great course for the money and is a good course for golfers of all levels.
Nice course, nice design, well maintained-would be nice if it opened on time!
Arrived 15 minutes early for my 7 am tee time. Only problem was that the guy who opened the pro shop arrived at 7:15 am. Not very professional!
Well maintained course
Fox fire was a nice maintained course. But it seemed as if every other hole we were playing had groundsmen somewhere on the fairway/green working. I can appreciate a course being well kept, but it began to get annoying that we would have to wait a few minutes for them to clear out of the way at least a half dozen times. Other than that the course was nice.
The staff was incredibly friendly.
Nice course but needs some work
The front nine is fairly easy but the back nine starts to pose some challenges for the average golfer.
My biggest concern with this course was that the tees were in horrendous shape. The other issue that I had was that some of the fairways were cut well and taken care of, but the majority of them were not cut to a proper length and had a lot of patches of longer grass and shorter grass rather than consistently one length.
The greens were in decent shape, no real complaints there. The sand traps had a lot of standing water after a medium rain last night and they were hard as a rock.
1-10 I'd give this course a 6, but could easily be an 8 if it was taken care of better.
Foxfire is in GREAT SHAPE right now!!!
This is the closest course to my house. I have played this course dozens of times. It usually is an OK couse to play, BUT I have to say that the couse is in fantastic shape right now. The greens are the best public couse greens that I have played this year. The overall couse is in above average condition. I would highly recommend.
Long Sunday, Good Value
Despite long waits due to lack of grouping pairs and singles, enjoyable day with a course that was fair and fun with fast greens.
Great late year golf experience.
The greens were in excellent condition. Workers were still cutting grass and taking care of course. Great late season place to play at super low rate.
Great course and great price
GolfNow discounts makes this course one of the best to play for the price. Good fairways and greens.
This course is layed out nicely
This course is challenging, might be a little tough for a beginner. But for intermediate players and above this course is a good course to play.Lots of fun!
Great shape for time of year, unexpected shape. Great job!
Compared to Split Rock, Foxfire greens were in great shape! fairways maintained and in great shape, especially considering the drought we have had this summer. Great job!
challenging course and greens
The fairways were a bit spotty in places but the greens were in great shape. they really rolled true and fast.
Great Golf Course
This golf course provides the best players a challenge. Narrow fairways and difficult landing areas makes you use all the clubs in your bag. Greens are fairly fast and very maintained.
I would recommend this golf course to anyone that plays golf.
This course is in AWFUL shape
When I selected this course, I figured it would be decent considering it's right next door to the Players Club. I was wrong. The fairways had so many dirt patches. At one point I thought I was going to ruin my clubs from playing in so much dirt.
