The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
About
Foxfire Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf, the Foxfire Course and the Players Club Course. The Players Club was added in 1993.The layout is a deft combination of traditional American golf and traditional British links design that provides the perfect complement to the original. The golf course is the more challenging of the two, but not by much. The layout features narrow fairways lined with trees and water hazards on eight holes. There are three particularly tricky carries over water. Strategically placed bunkers and contoured mounding also treacherously lurk by the greensides. The par-4 16th hole is the course's signature. This demanding hole plays uphill through trees to a green that is guarded by five bunkers. The most memorable hole though, might be the par-5 eighth, which features the longest sand bunker in the Midwest.

Good outing overall.
Pace of play was ridiculous. 5:23, not a ranger in sight. Course was in better shape than reviews would have you believe. Bunkers need some work. Overall good experience
Could be better
This could be the best design around, but the care and maintenance is poor. I give everyone a pass this year after a year with no revenue, but I hope they try harder to keep it up.
Fairways a little burnt out
Fairways and some parts of a few greens were burnt out and most if not all of the sand traps were like concrete hard.
This course was way better last year
Layout is difficult but fun as always. Course is in brutal shape. Fringe is burnt, greens are dead in places, some even are covered in weed. There is vast open cut sod as well. Will come back once upkeep returns.
A little effort maybe.
Bunkers terrible. Turf terrible. This course years ago was top notch. It could get back to that with a little time and effort however it appears that is not happening. Will not be back.
So Sad
First things first, I don't usually write reviews, but I felt I had to. The people who own the course said when they sold the Foxfire course for developing that they were going to use the windfall to upgrade the Players Club, which had slowly been deteriorating since it first opened up. The greens were not being properly maintained and the traps were atrocious. Well, they sold the front property and have used the profit on-- nothing at the course. Maybe the owner bought Him or Herself something nice, but it wasn't at the golf course. I don't know how much sand costs, but that would have been the bare minimum to do to make the course a little nicer. Hitting out of mud and muddy water in the traps stinks. Whoever the greens keeper is should be fired. There is crabgrass growing on the greens and dead spots all over. The owners have done nothing.
Now the pace of play. Five hours. Too long. There was a ranger, we told him about it and he said he would take care of it. The group in front of us a couple of holes later came back to us to let us know there was a six- some ahead of them. So I guess the ranger thought that was OK.
For 50 bucks I was very disappointed. I won't be going back and I will discourage others from going. For literally half the price you can play Upper Lansdowne in an hour less and it is in just as good a shape.
Disappointed with conditions
Pretty disappointed with the conditions of the course. In the past the greens were amazing and a good challenge but they were incredibly slow and many had bare spots. Pace of play was fairly slow causing us to wait on every shot. Probably will not come back here with other options in the area at a similar price point in better conditions.
Worth the trip from Columbus
Very nice layout, greens are large and undulated so knowledge of pin placement is crucial. A lot of options off the tees. Really enjoyed the whole round
Good course with interesting holes
I like Foxfiee because each hole feels different. There are clearly different sections of the course that offere different challenges. There are several risk/reward holes that give the average player chances. I look forward to them getting the driving range back and working on the fairway bunkers
Players club never disappoints
Played with a good friend for on a cool windy May Day. We basically had the course to our self. Some of the greens were having a little distress, but mostly good. Workers were working hard on the traps. Players Club has possibly the three hardest holes (14, 15 & 16) of any public courses in central Ohio. I love the layout…
