The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
About
Foxfire Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf, the Foxfire Course and the Players Club Course. The Players Club was added in 1993.The layout is a deft combination of traditional American golf and traditional British links design that provides the perfect complement to the original. The golf course is the more challenging of the two, but not by much. The layout features narrow fairways lined with trees and water hazards on eight holes. There are three particularly tricky carries over water. Strategically placed bunkers and contoured mounding also treacherously lurk by the greensides. The par-4 16th hole is the course's signature. This demanding hole plays uphill through trees to a green that is guarded by five bunkers. The most memorable hole though, might be the par-5 eighth, which features the longest sand bunker in the Midwest.

Some challenging par 5's
The bunkers weren't done, awful but the course was in great shape
great round
sunday 8.15am tee time, really fun course, links, woods, and water. not an easy course but really enjoyable. i was a single paired with another single who was a pleasure to play with. we finished under 4 hours, if youre in the area i would highly recommend playing it,
Conflicting
Staff was extremely "boomer Ohio"; very gruff and unwelcoming.
The woman who checked us in opened with a very annoyed "you here to golf or what?!"
Carts and cart paths are atrocious. There were quite a few hills, on the cart path, I was unsure our cart could even climb.
That all being said, majority of the course was in good condition and made for a challenging but fun day.
Beautiful course
Amazing fairways and fast greens just beautiful
It's February, you get what you get
Staff, not enough and barely on top of things, far from cordial. Didn't account for frost in February and booked tee times way too early, causing a delay for those of us smart enough to book later tee times. After a 45 minute delay, the sent me out with a cart that the battery hadn't been confirmed, ran out of charge after 3 holes. Came out fairly quickly to replace it but never apologized for the inconvenience nor impacting our round. We had to let a group go through us while we waited for the new cart, and that group played the final 15 holes very slowly. It's a good golf course and layout that was in darn good shape for February but the overall experience was definitely less than.
WOW!!
The course has continued to improve and improve and improve in the last few years.!!! In a word... WOW!!! so happy to see the course in such amazing condition.
What an underutilized course for the value
My first time playing here and I left impressed. I was unsure whether the course would be in good condition as I know it has been a little bit off in the past. The fairways and greens were dry but green without any real rough spots.. The greens rolled fast, not just because they were dry, but because they are challenging. Lots of rolling fairways. greens and water challenges that make the game of golf fun and beautiful.
The halfway house after 8 is just awesome. Food is fresh, hot and lots of choices for condiments. Drinks are cold! My only complaint is how slow the gold cart was.
Good as always
Been playing this course for 40 years, always fun. Conditions very good for a public course with a lot of play. Carts and cart paths are showing their age, but it appears they are putting their money in the course as it was in very good condition.
Great Condition, Tough Course!
I had not played the Foxfire Player's Club course in awhile. I was pleasantly surprised by how lush the course was. Greens rolled the same all day, very consistent. This is one of the toughest public courses around, and the back 9 was really tough, as usual. Will return to this course as soon as I am able.
challenging but fun!
traveling from out of state and just found a tee time here. didn't know what to expect but the course itself is pretty fun and challenging, water on a number of holes and a big emphasis on getting your drives into the fairway because there's lots of OB/trees on a number of holes. greens were very nice, fairways had good coverage and it's a fun track. definitely helps to know the areas to miss! would come back if i lived in the area. pro shop is in the bar area which is weird and they don't allow spectators FYI. also the cart paths are super bumpy so be aware!!
Played 36 and it’s a wonderful course and staff. Special for a public course
Fun and challenging course
Course is in excellent shape. Great layout, fair but challenging layout. Greens, tees and fairways all in excellent condition.
Worth the trip!
Played this for the first time and I was not disappointed. Was not planning on playing that day but I had the opportunity and took it. The fairways were green and lush. The greens had plenty of holes with undulations that made it hard to read let alone them being fast! Great layout with some blind tee shots.
Pace of play was pretty bad being a single when no one followed golf etiquette and no ranger. But that’s how it is anymore on courses.
Would love to come back and play again and bring some friends!
It’s back!
I took a chance on playing Foxfire from other reviews on GolfNow. The last time I played was over 10 years ago when there were two courses. I had heard that the new staff has plus a lot of money and effort into rebuilding the course and it shows.
The course was in great condition. The greens rolled very well. The unique layout was refreshing and challenging as it rewards accurate tee shots. Solid food and beverage service at the halfway house between #8 and 9.
Staff members were very nice.
Only negatives I can think of are the cart paths - however, I would invest all my money into the greens/course so this isn’t a knock. There were quite a lot of areas that were severely bumpy. Don’t let that deter you. Second was pace of play. Granted my group finished in 4.5 hours on a Wednesday afternoon, but it could have been a lot faster if the groups in front were managed as we waited on every shot from the start.
