The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
About
Foxfire Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf, the Foxfire Course and the Players Club Course. The Players Club was added in 1993.The layout is a deft combination of traditional American golf and traditional British links design that provides the perfect complement to the original. The golf course is the more challenging of the two, but not by much. The layout features narrow fairways lined with trees and water hazards on eight holes. There are three particularly tricky carries over water. Strategically placed bunkers and contoured mounding also treacherously lurk by the greensides. The par-4 16th hole is the course's signature. This demanding hole plays uphill through trees to a green that is guarded by five bunkers. The most memorable hole though, might be the par-5 eighth, which features the longest sand bunker in the Midwest.

It’s back!
I took a chance on playing Foxfire from other reviews on GolfNow. The last time I played was over 10 years ago when there were two courses. I had heard that the new staff has plus a lot of money and effort into rebuilding the course and it shows.
The course was in great condition. The greens rolled very well. The unique layout was refreshing and challenging as it rewards accurate tee shots. Solid food and beverage service at the halfway house between #8 and 9.
Staff members were very nice.
Only negatives I can think of are the cart paths - however, I would invest all my money into the greens/course so this isn’t a knock. There were quite a lot of areas that were severely bumpy. Don’t let that deter you. Second was pace of play. Granted my group finished in 4.5 hours on a Wednesday afternoon, but it could have been a lot faster if the groups in front were managed as we waited on every shot from the start.
Much Improved!
Great experience. Since they sold the other course this is the only one that remains and clearly they are starting to put money into it again. Very good condition and much improved over previous years. The only issue is the clubhouse is still old and poorly designed. They really need a remodel (or tear down) as it's pretty basic. Also there's no excuse for the gravel parking lot.
Much Improved
If they keep working hard on this course and putting money into it, then it could be very nice in a short time! It’s good enough now that I’ll play there again. Greens and fairways much better!
A beloved course by many seeing conditions deteriorate
Although this is a great course, there are some misses that can be remedied if only the owners would take care of. #1 The parking lot. At a course like this charging what they do, the lot should be paved. It's nothing but gravel. #2. The cart paths at the very least should be repaved in areas where they are so bumpy the cart bag wants to bounce out. #3 The carts themselves are probably the slowest I've ever been on. #4 updates to the bar. It feels like stepping into a 1970's pub. The pro shop is bare minimum. Restrooms feel dingy.
All that said, the course layout is awesome! It's long and relentless. Once you think you've played some hard holes, this course drops the hammer on you. There's a 3 hole stretch on the back nine (2 of which are back to back par 5's) that require long straight shots place properly to have a decent shot towards the hole. If you don't have a decent game, stay away from this course. You're going to go through a pack of balls or more if you typically shoot in the high 80's or 90's at most courses. If you're game is advanced and you need some challenge, then look no further. This course will test you on all your clubs and having you hit straight, draws and fades on demand.

Course was in good shape. Definitely had some challenging holes especially 6, 7, & 8. Plenty of water. It was nice they have a restaurant & bathroom after the 8th hole. Everyone was very pleasant I was visiting from out of town. Got a great deal from GolfNow. I would recommend to play.
Communication is the key to life.
Not enough carts. This course should have relayed that message to Golf Now, that way there's no miss communication. As long as I don't get charged for anything I'm ok. Really was excited about playing this 4th of July. Does anyone ever read these Reviews?
