The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
About
Foxfire Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf, the Foxfire Course and the Players Club Course. The Players Club was added in 1993.The layout is a deft combination of traditional American golf and traditional British links design that provides the perfect complement to the original. The golf course is the more challenging of the two, but not by much. The layout features narrow fairways lined with trees and water hazards on eight holes. There are three particularly tricky carries over water. Strategically placed bunkers and contoured mounding also treacherously lurk by the greensides. The par-4 16th hole is the course's signature. This demanding hole plays uphill through trees to a green that is guarded by five bunkers. The most memorable hole though, might be the par-5 eighth, which features the longest sand bunker in the Midwest.

The Players Club is back!
This course has made a complete 360 from just a few months ago. The new superintendent has the greens fast & perfect & the same with the fairways. Can't wait to play it again.
Revisiting The Players Club after 15 years
This was our first visit to The Players Club since the Foxfire Golf Course was closed and replaced by houses. We used to play both courses, The Players and Foxfire, whereas the The Players was the 'better course', but the Foxfire course was still good enough of a challenge and fun to play. This round at The Players was very challenging due to the wind over the 'open' holes, and by the tree lined narrow fairways of the other holes. Sure the conditions kicked our butts but the course was in perfect condition, It's a great course to play and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Restore its beauty
Hopefully over time it should be restored to what it once was.
Foxfire
Greens were excellent medium fast. Tee’s were mixed some good some overused Course plays fairly tight with many trees. Many doglegs requiring placement of shots.
Much improved from this past spring.
I played this course in early May and it was horribly unkempt. Wasn’t going to play it again, but a buddy of mine wanted to play it. Glad I did. It’s come a long way. Course was cut much better and lots of new sand in most of the bunkers (not many public courses in Columbus can say that this year).
Greens are a little slower than most courses. Very undulating. Great track! Very difficult from the Blue tees.
I’ll be back.
surprised
After having played this course in the past and not during its glory days, i last played here in 2020 and was disappointed by almost everything from the pace of play to the condition of the course. On the 17th of July, I played the course, and to my surprise, the course was coming back; the bunkers had sand the fairway, greens, and tee boxes were in good condition. The pace of play wasn't an issue due to the rain; I was only able to get in 9 holes before they closed the course due to rain. I still think the price is too high, but I saw enough good things to play here again and recommend others to give the course another chance; within the next two years, the course should be in terrific shape
Worst experience ever
Booked a tee time for Sunday Memorial Day Weekend. Showed up and they told me they moved my tee time back 15mins without notifying me. They then charged $15 for a bucket of range balls to pass the extended time. As we practiced putts waiting to tee off, we saw 12 carts pass by and head to the first tee ahead of us. They also passed the 2 groups with tee times ahead of us. When we questioned the starter what was going on, he said it’s the owner and his friends and there was nothing he could do. Not content to wait another hour to tee off and then endure a 6 hour round of golf, we got a refund and accepted losing 2 hours of day to this debacle. Needless to say, I’ll never be back and based on the conditions of the facilities, clubhouse and range, I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Golf Round
This could be a prestigious course with just a little more TLC. Sand traps were hard, muddy, weed-dominated.
Car paths had lots of holes. Riding carts were very nice.
Fairways and greens were pretty nice.
Under-Rated course
Never played foxfire before after living in Grove City for a while. Reviews I read and what I’ve heard is that the course used to be better and I have no doubt that it was, but people make it sound worse than it is. Seems like they are trying to improve the course slowly. Grass was well cut. Some patches in places but over all very happy with my experience here. Tough course for a newer golfer. Bring an extra couple balls with you. Beautiful course.
Just OK
2nd time playing the Players Course and it has gone downhill…1st time I played, it was fantastically kept and worth the price…this time around (keep in mind we played early spring) bunkers were not well kept, a lot of the greens were covered in disease, and for the price paid, not worth it. The half way house was nice however slowed pace of play to a crawl…overall, I won’t be playing this course anytime soon
Lost its luster
This used to be our regular weekly course but conditions have deteriorated significantly in the last 4-5 years. Greens are very bumpy with bare portions, fairways are still fairly decent, bunkers are a travesty and unplayable, and there aren’t any amenities left. Basically this is your run of the mill muni course even after they sold off their less-heralded Foxfire course. Thinking that they may put some of the millions they reaped on that sale into the remaining course was a mistake. There isn’t a pro shop to speak of, no cart service on the course, halfway house is usually closed, only facility is a porta-potty after number 8, and when asking about future remodel plans, they indicated that they may paint the outside of the clubhouse even though there is a brand new neighborhood being built (300 homes) around this place. It used to be a great course that you could enjoy and have an “experience” at, but those days are long gone. Highly recommend that you look elsewhere if you want decent conditions or a good golf experience, which seems to be difficult in this area in recent years. Best of luck!
Nice course but quite difficult
The fairways were a joy to hit out of, but are very narrow and surrounded by very thick rough, as well as lots of water and sand.
