Pipestone Golf Club
About
Pipestone Golf Course is an Arthur Hills design that has been acclaimed as the best public course in the Dayton area. The name of the course comes from blue clay soil that is buried deep in the ground. The native Indians of the area would use it for making pottery and they would call it pipestone. Nestled amongst rolling hills, the golf course offers plenty of elevation changes. The undulating greens and fairways are kept in immaculate condition but they rarely offer a flat lie. The front nine is particularly challenging with several holes that are framed with tress and crisscross over the same creek. Pipestone Golf Course's second hole is one of the toughest with a water hazards and a fairway that is severely sloped right to left.

Great day
Shot makers course you can't just got out and bomb it off the tee
hidden gem
Excellent greens and well-maintained fairways with a well laid out mixture of long and short holes make this a very enjoyable golfing experience. This was a fortuitous selection in our tour of courses through the mid-west.
Beautiful Course
Great way to spend the afternoon. Course was in great shape.
Good Course
Course is in great shape, and staff is friendly. Hilly course which makes it fun and challanging, especially when you're starting to play from the tips.
Very slow
Very very slow. Hole 14 had 3 groups waiting to tee off
Why is play so SLOW?
Played on Wed. morning. Front nine in 2hours 30 min. Mad turn and played 10 - 13 in 1hour 45 min. Picked up and left. Starter at the turn just laughed when asked about why the pace was so slow.
Very Nice Course
Course is in very good condition. Rangers very friendly.
Pipestone Golf Course: worth the trip
As a new resident to Ohio, this was my 2nd round at Pipestone, the first was early Spring and when the grass wasn't green, yet.
Some holes are pretty easy, others relatively difficult. You've got to be able to work the ball both ways here. Putting greens were relatively fast and undulating.
The staff from the guy behind the counter, starter and beverage care were all very attentive. I'll definitely be back.
Great Shape
Unfortunately pace of play was hampered by an outing on a Wednesday and it was difficult to get into a rhythm. Course was in great shape and the fairways cut pretty short and the rough not as deep as some in the area. They were changing the batteries in the carts that day and ours was not one that had been changed yet. I had to push ours uphill starting on #15. This was my second time playing here and can't wait to play here again.
Friday with Friends
My friends and I have a wonderful day playing Pipestone Golf Course. The play time was excellent and everyone was very pleasant. Would say this is a must play course for anyone who has not yet playing this course.
Great track!!! A must do if you are around Dayton
Played this on a Sunday(noon) on the way down to Lexington KY as part of a 3 day golf trip with my golf partner and our wives. The weather was excellent and the course was in great condition(including the bunkers)Always tough playing a course for the first time, however, it probably wont be my last. Bring extra balls as even good shots that are just off the fairway "seem " to just disappear at times until you are right on top of them..Great way to break up a 5 hour car ride
Great Course
Great layout and challenging! Greens were in excellent condition and the fairways were really well groomed!
Beware of #2.
Beautiful course in great condition. Tees for all abilities. Pay attention to all you read and hear about hole 2. We had soft conditions and it still got us. It was all of our first times at the course and all agreed it will not be our last.
Nice Place
very wet the day we played, but course seemed to be in good shape for early in the season. Irrigation work going on during our round, had to skip a hole.
Pipestone has good and bad hole like every course, but they keep it nice.
I think that the course is a quality challenge for every one. It is nice place for anybody to play.
Good Course
My pace of play is skewed because of the cold weather and playing as a single. For early November the course was in decent shape. The greens had been aerated so were a bit sandy. The layout is nice and fair. Number 2 can be a bit unfair if the conditions are fast.
in great condition..!!!!
course was in excellent condition .. fast smooth greens. great price.. !!
In Great Shape
Pace a little slow but manageable, Good variety of holes.
Above average
Nice track with exception of hole #2, totally poor design. Everything hit from tee on this par five will run dead left into water off a 35 degree right to left slope. Other than that good layout, fun to play, challenging, well taken care of and good value.
Great day
Didn't used to be one of my favorite courses in town but it seems to get better and better. Greens were perfect. Definitely will return.
