Virtues Golf Club (formerly known as Longaberger Golf Club) in Nashport is Ohio's no. 1 public golf course and it's also ranked in the top 75 public golf courses in America. Situated about an hour's drive from Columbus, the Arthur Hills design tumbles across rolling hills, stretching from the ridge top down to the valley floor. Wide, undulating fairways flow seamlessly to immaculately manicured greens bordered by beautiful mature trees. The setting will make you feel as though you've been transported to southern Appalachia. You'll be greeted with stunning panoramic views everywhere you turn. Be careful though because the dramatic slopes make the golf course just as challenging as it is scenic. Multiple sets of tees keep Virtues G.C. playable for golfers of all skill levels but no matter which you choose to play from, a bevy of uneven lies await you.

Disappointed drive

I was excited to play a Top 100 course, as they typically outshine their reviews, however this was not the case with The Virtues. First off the pro shop staff wasn’t very friendly, but that’s not a big deal. The range was beat up with hardly any grass to hit from in between the ropes, I thought the course is probably better. The views from the first tee set my expectations high, and then I got to greens. When dropped $70 on a round I expect a level of smoothness from the greens. These greens didn’t reach the level of a $30 muni, I don’t think anyone repaired a pitch mark on the greens this season, every green I felt like I had to dodge land mines and buried elephants. I was truly disappointed in the greens and the fairways, tee boxes and rough didn’t make up for it. When you add to that the lack of water jugs and the beverage cart not showing up until 7 holes into our 2:30 front nine, I was disappointed and parched. Overall, the routing of the course was demanding requiring well placed drives and accurate approach shots. However, the routing could not overcome the poor conditions, I struggle to believe this course is a Top 100 course in the US, don’t waste your trip, play your local muni!

One of the best courses in Ohio

This course is always in great condition. A few tee boxes are beat up due to play (#5). Other than that minor problem, not much else negative can be said. Course is a nature lovers paradise, usually see a few deer running around. No houses anywhere on the course. A few tee boxes have a long forced carry to the fairway. Be sure to pick the right tees to match your game . Play this one when you get a chance

Great Course, but not next level great

My first round at The Virtue's Club was on a BRUTALLY hot Friday the 13th. I've played numerous top rated public courses in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Northern Rockies and Great Lakes region. With that said, while The Virtues Club was an extremely enjoyable track it didn't seem worthy of a #1 state ranking or a spot in the national Top 100. The layout is quite solid but there are some holes that could use a little tweaking. The par 5's were all dog legs to some varying degree. I feel like something more can be done with 8 and 18 as well. 8 has an awkward split fairway with a tree in the middle. The green is then perched out in a pond/swamp. 18 is a severe uphill par 4. The finishing hole's only redeeming quality is the constant view of the enormous clubhouse that looms behind the green The course conditions were solid but certainly not spectacular. As others have mentioned the greens were showing "considerable" wear and tear. The numerous ball marks aren't a good look but there's only so much a course can do. There were a few areas that were thinning and could easily become bare spots as the summer carries on. That was certainly something I didn't expect to see. They also need to change the tee markers more often on par 3's. There were some ankle twisting divots about. I paid $48 for a late afternoon round which was a great deal. At that price the course is worth playing 2 or 3 times a month as a local. However, if I dropped the full $100 I wouldn't have been nearly as satisfied.

Still Great but conditions of course starting to decline

1st time I played there this year. It is still one of the best public layouts in Ohio, but course conditions are starting to decline. Most noticeable was condition of bunkers. Lack of maintenance is evident. Grass and weeds starting to grow and they were very inconsistent. Tee boxes looked like they needed some TLC and unfixed divots on greens are going unaddressed and starting to see decline on some of the greens. No Longer 5 Stars.

Take water on hot days or stay away

Pro's- Great layout, scenic views with challenging play around the entire course. Cons-It is a lengthy drive from Columbus and the price is high $$ in comparison to other non-private course's. The day we played it was in the mid-upper 90s and there was no water and no drink service on the course. Playing on a holiday, one should expect some volume of play and staff accordingly. Will never play again when the weather is in extreme highs or lows as service was less than you get at a muni course for the fraction of a cost. Scott

Fun course to play!

The course layout is great, and conditioning is good. The course lacks sufficient yardage markers, and I had trouble pulling it up on my gps because of the name change from Longabergers to Virtues. It is a very difficult course to play for the first time without knowing your yardages.
