Great Metroparks Course and great value!
Long course and well maintained. Basic club house but the value is in the course and the price point!
The Only Hidden Gem
While the phrase "Hidden Gem" is used and frankly too often, this golf course is the Hidden Gem in Northeast Ohio. It is a players course and not for the those who bump it down the middle. With the possible exception of hole #18, all of the par 5s are 3 shot holes. Most of the par 4s are either doglegs, tight or have some trouble that demands solid shot making. If you love golf, then this is a course you will love because it honors the game. There are good scores out there if you earn them.
love the course
i have always enjoyed playing this course.
the course is a nice long course where you get to use all of your clubs. very good condition. not crowded on weekdays.....clubhouse could be updated. there should be a bathroom on first floor for handicapped people
Coming Back
This course was my high school's home course, but I haven't played it in years since moving out of Geauga county. The only real change is they lost the big willow over the lake on #3 and seem to have cleared some more trees out on the right on #8. #8 also used to be called the toughest hole in NE Ohio, but they have built up lots of new tee boxes and the tees also seem to forward from the listed yardage. This is still the #1 handicap, but probably not the toughest hole out there any more. This course is all about bombing, with 6600 from the white and huge, undulating greens. I've always had a good time out here and never too crowded. The par 3's on the back are monsters, and so are 3 of the 4 par 5's. it was good to be back.
The Hidden Gem In NE Ohio
Without exception this course has the best overall layout of any course in NE Ohio and I would include a number of the "marquee" private courses I have played. If they solve the water problems that hinder play in the spring this course will be among the top 3 in NE Ohio. Hard to find a course that has 3 legitimate 3 shot par 5s, varied and challenging par 4s and 3 solid par 3s. It doesn't get an overwhelming amount of play, most likely due to it being too hard for many older or less skilled players which keeps it is good shape. In terms of Metro Park courses this is significantly better Manakiki in all aspects. And the deals on Golfnow are exceptional.
The staff seem to despise GolfNow golfers!!! Course conditions good.
The person who checked us in was curt and not friendly. This has happened more than once with different staff. If they do not want GolfNowers then they should not enroll in the program!!! There are plenty more courses in the area so I will take my business elsewhere!!
Punderson
Never Played There Before...Yet I Enjoyed The Course Immensely!
Course has fun/challenging holes and very decent conditions
Staff was much friendlier than earlier this year. Course was in great condition.
Long, beautiful course
The big hitters have a big advantage on this course. 6600 from the whites!! Beautifully set in the middle of the state park. Worth the 40 min drive from where I live. Lots of chances to bring out the long irons/woods.
hole 8 might be one of the toughest in NE Ohio. Pretty fast, fair, and well kept greens.
Course In Reasonably Good Shape
All went well as far as pace of play. No complaints. Conditions were good.
Challenging course
The course has some length (6600 yds white tees) but much of the length is on the par 5's where it belongs. Par 4's are challenging but fair (no 450 yd par 4's), 2 of the par 3's are about 200 yds, difficult. Excellent condition.
A nice surprise
Great course conditions for a public muni. Fast greens that were well taken care of.
A number of challenging dog-legged holes that require some strategic shots.
A great surprise. We'll be back.
State Park Course
In better shape than it has been in for some time. Greens are almost always good except late in day due to negligence of players who somehow cannot repair ball marks never crowded, so pace of play is good.
Slick Greens
The greens are rolling quite nicely. Pro shop should give out free repair tools though, as many players don't fix their ball marks
