Sugar Isle Golf Course
About
Sugar Isle Golf Course was designed by Jack Kidwell, a familiar name among southern Ohio golf courses. Water is a prominent feature of the course, Kidwell incorporated it on more than half of the holes. Some 20 white sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout the layout, providing a scenic contrast to the water and lush greens. For an added challenge, many of the fairways are lined with mature trees although there is some room for error, which makes them more accessible. It is a course that will make you think but it is not too intimidating for beginners. The versatility makes it popular for outings and tournaments. Sugar Isle has even hosted the area's high school programs for more than 30 years. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range and large putting green.

Last visit to the course
The course was not in very good condition. The cart paths are all crumbling. If you're not careful you can twist your ankle on the cart path. There were big patches of sand that must have fallen out of the vehicle that they feel the sand traps with. Fairways were like cow pasture. This is the worst I've ever seen this course. For the money I paid to play here I would have expected a much nicer course. The greens were in good condition but we're very very slow. It looks like they're trying to work on the course because there must have been 20 course workers Mowing and seeding and whatever else they do I might wait a while before I go back to
Course was in good condition. Grass was freshly cut for the most part. Some easier holes but great for a less then average golfer like myself.
Really fun course
While not the absolute most challenging course in the world, and even though we got storms for part of the day, the course was incredibly enjoyable to play. Would recommend to anyone!
Slow rolling....
Course is in ok shape. They changed the jumbers around so mY GPS was messes up. They were working on the bunkers which was great, a lot of bunkers in the other area courses have been converted to grass or rocks. The greens are slower than my livingroom carpet. The tee boxes could use a lot of help as well. Overall, it was $13 and i cant complain about that. I wouldnt pay $20 but it was great for a hot deal I will definately be back.
Good Day at a Nice Course
Course was in pretty good shape. Pace of play was really good. Finished 18 holes in under 3 1/2 hours. Only complaint is that on some holes the cup appeared to be "domed". Putts on the edges of the cup fall away from the hole. Greens are hard enough without the holes being domed. Just my thoughts.
Always a go to course !
Course has always been maintained and kept up, a little behind on maintanence due to weather we had this year but I am sure they will get it up to snuff with some good warm weather. Staff is always friendly and courteous when I’ve been there. Greens were in need of some repair, but as I said weather had a lot to do with it. Would recommend it to anyone who has not played there yet.
Rough shape-Bunkers =dirt, weeds & rocks, rough pitted greens
This is a Value course if you don't mind minefields on the greens, inconsistent fairway grass, dirt and weeds in many bunkers. The greens are in terrible shape as they are bumpy, missing grass in many areas of the greens, many pitted areas that looks like a thousand unrepaired ball marks and many bare spots. The carts are run down, the fairways and greens could use much overseeding and tlc as well as the rough. So if you are a single digit handicap up to a 12hdcp you will not want to play this course and you will be frustrated. Spend your money on a nicer course and keep your sanity and protect your handicap. Leave this couse to the retired folks, the young kids, and those that don't care about course conditions. Very friendly staff and reg price is $28 with cart
My favorite
Always like playing Sugar Isle. Fun course. In good shape despite all the flooding rains lately
Love this course
Sugar Isle is a very nice public course. It has a lot of character without being too difficult, and not too pricey!
It has been the go to course for our foursome when we don't feel like traveling. We have probably played this course about 15 times this year.
Nice Local Course
This course can be challenging if it is windy or there has been much rain. If there has been rain recently then parts of the course are really wet. Greens are really tough to read.
It's a gem
Sugar Isle is a top notch public course for a reasonable rate. The carts are a little old but the course itself is in great shape. Fairways, greens, and bunkers are all in a better state than other public courses for the same fees.
Nice Track
Great day to play. Course was in good shape, greens a bit dry and fast.
Nice course
Very nice public course, not hard, but not easy, fun to play. . Do not like the way they changed the layout, does not flow at all, need to go back the way it was with the par 3 for 18tth hole
Great golf
We started with a little bit of fog, (actually pretty cool play). Putts we're dropping, life is good....then the sun came out.
Routing
Changed routing to cause players to pass "club house" an additional time, which made routing of back nine strange. It is poor routing and effects the flow of the course.
