Hot round
great day to play... only thing that bothered me was the golf cart we had had a big rip in the seat.. but how much are you really in the cart..
overall great course. makes you think about your shots
Nice track for a bargain
I only had to pay $19 to ride on a Saturday night. The nice part was that there were about 10 people on the golf course, and I got through the round in about 2 hours. Greens are in good shape, even though they are a little slow. The course does a decent job of the layout given the hilly terrain, however be prepared to have some interesting lies. This is definately a position play course, and you only should take out driver about 4 or 5 holes.
Great hilly course
This course is a great course to play if you like it hilly. It is in great condition for so early in the year and we really enjoyed the play. Will play this course again and recommend it to friends.
Never a flat lie
This course is extremely hilly. Rarely do you have a flat lie even if you are in the fairway. I do like the course because it makes you use every club in your bag. It is not grip-n-rip from every tee box. Many tee shorts force you to use an iron or fairway wood
great course
lots of hills but very taken care of no problems getting around the course lots of fun and challenges will definitely go again
Good value, but I don't like the layout.
First off, the pace here is great. I finished 18 in just over 3 hours. The staff was incredibly friendly! And it's also a great deal ($20 with cart if booked on golf now, $32 if booked through the course). For me though, the course itself wasn't worth the deal. I guess my game just isn't suited to this layout. Too many blind tee shots and wild uphills. It gets a bit repetitive, even with hilly nature of the course that seems to prohibit good lies. Even down the middle of a lot of fairways, you're going to have an awkward stance for your second shot. The course though is nestled in Nature. So the surroundings are beautiful and serene. I would consider going back, but for me it's a little too far and a little more demanding than the 120 slope would suggest.
For a cheap rate it's worth it
If you can play 18 at this course for 20-25 bucks with a cart then you should be fairly happy. Biggest issue. There literally are no fairways. Roughs and fairways are the same length, can't distinguish which is which. Tough to find some shots you hit right down the middle. Greens were in great shape and rolled true. Staff was very kind. Had some nice scenery on a few holes. Perfect spot for golfers that are just getting into it, also a perfect spot take your gramps for a round. Course is very short. Won't get my money again but that's simply because it's 50 minutes from me. If it was closer I'd be there once a month I'd say.
WOW
If you like hills, fairways that remind you of Farmer Brown's back 40, and greens as slow as rush hour in Atlanta, you will LOVE Shawnee Lookout.
Challenging but fun cousre
I'm just above beginner and this course is challenging but it's very nice and fun.
Not crowded at all
I golfed Shawnee on a Friday morning and the course wasn't crowded at all. This is a nice course, with very hilly terrain. It is very spread out with very few houses in sight. Lots of wildlife around the course.
Misleading Reviews
I came in with high expectations after seeing this as a 4-star course. The course was unexplainably dry for all the rain we have had this summer. The cut between fairways and rough was indiscernible. I can compliment the greens for being green but they were cut long and were quick and hard like rest of the course. Lots of blind shots and constant elevation changes. A course I could learn to enjoy but won't put more rounds there.
Secluded course
This corse is located high on a hill overlooking the Ohio River and power plant. It's very secluded and plays well. The fairways were difficult to distinguish as all the grass was kept at the same height. The kitchen is under construction right now so foods options are limited
hilly!
Get ready for uneven lies!!!! Great course, but seems like someone wanted to build a course and just stuck it where they could get the land. Course was extremely hilly, I don't remember if I had any shots on flat ground besides the tee.
Greens
The entire course was in great condition. Not over booked staff was friendly as usual.
Beautiful course at a great price
Really good course for the $25 I spent on it, would definitely go back to it, greens were in really good shape but fairways were a little shaggy
Excellent course
This was my first time here at Shawnee Lookout and I was very pleased with the course. It had a good layout and some challenging holes that make you choose what to hit from some of the tee boxes. My only negative is that there is a fee to park since it is inside the park area, I didn't know this going in.
Terrible condition
Course was in awful shape considering how nice the weather has been this summer. Lots of brown spots around greens and in fairway. Greens were also very inconsistent with some being extremely fast and others being much slower. For a short course it's very interesting with all the hills and slopes but it needs to be in better shape.
Great round
This course is a hidden gem! The rolling hills on the course and super friendliness of the staff made my trip to the course worthwhile !
