Love this place
Whenever I see "hot deals" for Island Green I jump on the opportunity. Great value in early spring/late fall, not sure what peak summertime prices will look like yet. The course is in good shape, could use a bit of work here and there. Tee boxes can be a little tough to find flat footing, course layout can be confusing at times. Could use more directions/signage. The course is much more challenging than it seems, but that's a good thing for me. Greens can be tough to read, lots of dog legs right and water hazards, but no sand traps anywhere. All got covered, you can still see where they used to be. Overall, very good course. Will definitely continue playing there and bringing friends if the "hot deals" keep coming.
Course - play only if you have no other options
Fairways not cut. Might as well played in the rough all day and there would have been no difference. Tee boxes were bare and uneven. Only greens were in good shape. Lucky that we were first tee time and played in 3 hours. Shame because this course with a little care could be nice.
Great spot
Course has a great layout, well maintained, green and fairways without blemishes. Clubhouse isn’t much from the outside, but you get inside and it’s clear they’ve done some work on that place. Amazing bar/restaurant inside.
Can’t beat the price
New Name, Needs more than that
Tee Boxes are nonexistent on some holes, lots of water around the greens do to sprinklers on to long.. greens were ok but wet! I’ve played here before in the past couple of years and it was in better shape. Price is high for the course being as it is.
Great
Hidden gem, wel kept, friendly staff, good food. We stayed and played another 18 .Worth the drive will be back.
Course was decent, considering the dry hot summer scorched the fairways pretty good. Still had fun and not a bad deal for the money
Really stretching the yardage out...
I used to play this course as a kid, and recently revisited it during a trip into the Catskills in July. The course was in pretty rough shape, the greens were pretty hairy. Tee boxes were in really poor shape, and playing from the tips proved to be near impossible on some holes. Tee boxes seemed to be mounds of dirt with some grass grown on them, access was hampered by overgrown brush and tree branches, and were placed on some holes as such that it made playing the hole as originally intended near impossible.
For the money paid to play on a weekend, I would not go back again.
Nice Local Feel to the Course
We decided to do a weekend trip to the Catskills and found the Rainbow Club on a website list of Catskill courses. The website had a pretty view of on island green which is why we picked it to play.
The woman in the pro shop was friendly but the snack area was very dark and not inviting. The carts were older and it just felt like a local muni-course. The island green was disappointing visually (compared to the website photo) but the course was not busy so pace of play was great.
Overall, for $35 with a cart it was a great value and fun but I would not go out of my way to play this course.
