Split Rock Golf Club
About
Split Rock Golf Club was carved from the rolling countryside of northern Pickaway County. Its picturesque design is perfectly in sync with the natural surroundings. Designed by the local design team of Michael Hurzdan and Dana Fry, the golf course actually required little manipulation since much of the challenge comes from the natural features of the undulating terrain. The layout has slightly different nines that offer a diversity that appeals to a range of skill levels. The front nine is more open and forgiving while the back nine has tighter fairways that are lined with trees. Water is not a prominent presence at Split Rock Golf Club but it does come into play. In addition to the golf course, golfers are welcome to use the driving range and putting greens before teeing off.

Awesome course
Played with a group of 3 who have played this course before so I was able to gain some advice on a few holes, which allowed me to enjoy my first round here as there were a few holes that can get the average golfer into some trouble. The greens were nice and soft allowing anything to stick and the course layout was pleasant yet challenging. I will definitely play here again.
Nice course. Pace of play is awful.
I enjoy the course layout and they maintain it well. My issue is with the pace of play and the lack of care from the staff. My round took 5 hours. When I called and asked if there was a marshall to check pace of play they told me the course was playing at the proper speed. The front 9 took us 2 hours and 40 minutes. I feel like the staff was dismissive.
Best course central for price
Had a great time playing this course. Recommend you give it a chance.
Fall weather
I was nit happy with course conditions. Tee boxes chewed up. Fairway not cut. Greens were not puttable airation holes.very disappointed.
Split Rock
The course is alright for play. It was in fall condition. They were aeriating the tee boxes which were extremely hard. For the price I couldn't have done much better.
Like the layout
Really like the layout but there wasn't much grass in the fairways
Fall Shape
Course is in typical fall shape, solid greens with minimal stress spots in roughs/fairways from a hot summer. Always worth the price and I got a nice discount for playing after an outing. Took less than 30 minutes from Upper Arlington to get there.
Altercation in the Parkin Lot
I can't believe the owner and staff allowed my group to be verbally assaulted by one of the course residents. The fact that this resident had his handgun with him didn't help matters. The resident is a known problem, and yet nothing was done to shield us or warn us. To be clear, my partner hit out of the resident's backyard. The assault that resulted was ridiculous.
Mr. Barr,
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments.
Since your altercation occurred we have taken measures to ensure it will not happen again. Never would the owners nor staff condone such an incident and to apologize for the unfortunate occurrence. To be more precise though, your group member was trespassing off of golf course property. He also had broken state law by bringing his own alcoholic beverages on the facility and appeared intoxicated. We would love the chance to speak with you further about the matter should you have the time. Please feel free to contact us at Splitrockteetimes@gmail.com
Great learners course
Splitrock is a great course to get in and out of. The layout is pretty open and forgiving for a novice or beginner. One of my favorite courses for the money
Split Rock Labor Day
Nice track with good greens despite being obviously weathered by recent hot weather in the area....dry conditions made holding greens challenging. Load up on beverages at the clubhouse as nothing out on the course.
Hot day of golf
The easiest check-in at the club house I've ever experienced . Staff was super nice and helpful on how to play a few holes. Condition of corse was as good as can be expected with weather the way it has been lately. Looking forward to playing again soon, hoping the temperature will be under 90 next time.
Good for the Golf Now Price Hot Deal
Good practice course. Play here by myself a lot and usually meet up with great people. Fairways are the only down side. Hard to tell rough from fairway. Regular price would probably be a disappointment but the hot deals are a great value here.
Great course, just one hiccup
I was overall satisfied with my experience, would give it an 8/10. My only small problem was we tee'd off at 1:20 and were told leagues went off at 4. Finished the front 9 in under 2 hours and saw that the leagues we're going off around 3:30. Unfortunately, we were not able to play the back which was a bit disappointing considering we drove over 45 minutes to play the course. Overall I had a great time and played the front 9 twice.
Good deal
Hot, but the round went fast and smooth. Some challenging holes. Overall experience was fun.
Great Course for the Money
Course was in great shape especially for it being extremely hot with high heat index. We played at 1130am. They had the water on watering the greens. Even with that the greens were really fast. Most if not all greens were cut nice, just a tad damp. We had a great time. Pace of play about 4 hours for 18 holes. Would go back for sure.
Fun course but 5hrs 20 mins for 18......
On a Saturday morning it took my two some 5hrs and 20 mins to finish the round..... Club house guy was great with everything. Course was in good condition for mid July. Cart paths are not paved.
Ryan,
Thanks for coming out!
We appreciate your feed back and look forward to assisting you in your future golfing needs. We made some scheduling adjustments to allow us to control pace of play on saturdays more efficiently. Thanks for playing!
Course Always Over Books
My tee time was for around 9AM on a Saturday morning. I showed up at 8:30 and the parking lot was 95% full. They tried to pair my two some up with another random two some which I absolutely can't stand. I can understand this happening at really high end course but not this one. The course played extremely slow, was out there for roughly 6 hours. Come to find out during the round that they had a golf outing going on during that time. It's ridiculous to me that a course would put on a golf outing and still book tee times for regular customers! There were random foursomes jumping around holes, we had 3 different groups from the golf outing cut in front of us during the round. Overall, I think it's a pretty solid course but they overbook and after the golf outing incident I'll never play there again.
Mr. Sapp,
Thank you for taking the time to comment about your round out here with us at Split Rock.
We apologize for the disappointment you experienced with our facility. We would be happy to make it right with you. If possible could you send us an email at splitrockteetimes@gmail.com so we can assist you further.
Occasionally we start small 30-40 player outings in reverse formation starting on the back nine and then turn over to the front. Generally these have little to no effect on outside play. Larger outings 60+ would force us to block the entire tee sheet for their spot, like most players are accustom.
Split Rock
First time played and will return. Well maintained and player friendly. It is a busy place due to the quality of the course and pricing. Lack of tall grass leads to finding most of the bad shots which helps keep that score respectable.
Thank your for your feedback!
We appreciate your patronage and look forward to seeing you back out here with us at Split Rock. Very glad you enjoyed your round.
Sorry to hear your golfing experience was not a pleasant one. At Split Rock GC we strive to make all experiences with us great ones. We have already accomplished some of tasks associated with the preparation of the course for the winter months which can interfere with the enjoyment of a round. Please feel free to email us at splitrockteetimes@gmail.com to speak further and discuss your next golfing experience with us!
