Wow
Exceptionally challenging lay out on the back nine. Was not expecting it, nor was I ready for it. Would love to play it again, but I am not from this area.
Great course
My wife and I really enjoyed the course. Front nine was easy, but the back nine was somewhat challenging. In general, it's a great course for family play. Thanks!!
Almost like two separate courses
The front and the back really are like two different courses. The front is open with the occasional dogwood, the back is narrow with winding holes. The "Z" hole really is the strangest. If you're having a rough time on the front, it's only going to get worse on the back.
Front 9 lots of doglegs & Back 9 hills of WV
The course in very good condition and the staff is friendly. The course has many challenging holes with lots of turns and twists. I even Aced the Par 3 14th hole which is the highlight of my golf career!!!! This course is well worth the drive.
Horrible
Absolute worse round in years Waited every shot!!! with most tees having 2 or more groups. Course was not up to standards for other similar courses in the area. Wouldn't recommend to anyone!!!!
Have to be precise
I had not played Brandywine in many, many years. I did recall the back nine being tight, but had forgotten just how tight it really is back there. Front nine is pretty straight forward and enjoyable, and not really difficult. The back nine is carved into heavily treed hills with narrow, bending fairways . You must be able to precisely position your tee and fairway shots or you will suffer many penalties going into heavy woods with no chance of recovery. A low handicapper would have no problem, but it was a real challenge for me.
What a neat track
These were some really fun and different nines. They had the greens still smooth in November so that's a plus too. Will definitely be back.
scenic, tough, challenging
front is nice and level with a few doglegs, not much water or sand....BUT make the turn into the holler.....with deep forest on one side and creek on the other and about 10 yards of fairway !! Then a cliff hole that may give you the butterflies...and topped off with the torture that is the Z hole. If you are looking for a challenge, the back nine is for you.
good value, nice folks. wildlife galore.
Front nine like Kansas, back nine like West Virginia
The front nine here is okay. Nothing too challenging. The greens are pretty burnt out in a lot of areas. There are no fairways. It is just literally shorter rough. That is really all I have to say about the front side. The back nine, I can write a dissertation as to why it is not great to play. Too wet, unkempt, wayyyyyy to narrow. They have a "Z" hole. The whole play of the back nine is just terrible. Not fun. The only saving grace was their 15th hole which I'll admit, was a pretty cool set up. To me, this course met all of the standard requirements to be called a golf course. It has grass, tees, and greens.
terrible
I booked 18 holes for a foursome the course put a golf outing in front of our foursome on the seventh hole we quit and only played 12 holes totally uncalled for
Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for your experience and assure you this is not the standards we strive to meet. We hope to have you and your group back again to make up for your poor experience.
Alright
The front nine was good. The back nine was poorly kept up.
Thank you for your feedback. We are always looking to improve course conditions and take your comments very seriously. Look forward to having you back soon and making up for this experience.
Poor Conditions
While this summer has been rough on course, they have not done enough to get the course back in shape. The back 9 layout requires precise distance control. Too hard for me. I doubt that I will play this course again.

good but not for the price
Course was dry, greens hard, and crust over on parts. I know we had a hot dry summer, but they have sprinklers all over. Course could use water and fairways are same as rough. Course needs work to compete with other courses who charge less and have nicer condition. I have played this course for 30 years and this was the worst i have seen it.

95 degree's
love the course looking forward to playing here again
Old high school buddy
Played with an old high school buddy that was so-so back then and hadn't played in several years. So I picked a rather easy course. The front nine is rather open but with tree lined fairways that did give my buddy fits. The back nine is much tighter with woods-lined tight fairways that cost my buddy at least a ball per hole and he even picked up twice.
The 16th hole (Z-hole) was closed but they did say we could play 2 balls on either 17 or 18 to make up for that. Nice par 5 18 that we played 2 balls on and my buddy hit it to 4 feet for a birdie putt, that he missed! But the par made him happy and looking forward to playing again.
Poorly maintained, back 9 layout is horrible.
First time playing here, won't go back. The fairways are poorly maintained, bare patches throughout every fairway. They don't Marshall very well, multiple singles and twosomes were set off behind us without being paired up, on a Sunday afternoon, slowed us down because we had to be constantly stopping to let them play through. This could've been avoided if they paired people up as they should've. The back 9 layout literally winds through the woods, but not with nice views. There is 1, maybe 2 driver holes on the back because 5 of the 9 holes are massive doglegs. One par 5 is billed as a 575 yard hole, but you have to hit a 200 yard iron off the tee, then a 250+ 2nd that is still a layup and has to be perfectly placed for a 100+ yard approach shot. You have no options on the hole and it's pure frustration. There's nothing that can be done about the layout at this point, but it could be better maintained. I would not pay more than $25/round here, to do so would be a waste of money.

Brandywine
Nice course in decent shape. Staff was very nice. Course itself was nothing to get excited about. There are no 150 yard posts to assist in letting you know where to hit off of the tee. The back nine was short and narrow with some gimmicky holes that the others in my group had problems with as nobody knew where you could miss a shot without getting in to trouble. Maybe two sand traps had sand in them and the rest were mainly dirt. Greens were ok but very slow. The $20 that I paid was about what the course was worth.
