Maintenance is lacking or confused
We play the front of Brandywine once a month in a traveling league. The course has never been anything great, but usually it's OK. Maybe the superintendent is on vacation, but the maintenance was off this week. It's the end of July and you have a guy blowing leaves in the rough. If he blew the whole front nine maybe he could have filled a garbage bag. Meanwhile the sand traps had not been raked since before the last rain which was over 48 hours prior. Take the guy off the blower and put him on a trapmaster, or give him a hand rake if you don't have a trapmaster. The three sand traps surrounding the fourth green were mud pits, more akin to raising pigs, than hitting a golf ball out of. It was impossible to find a dry spot with sand to even drop your ball. Other traps that they have abandoned, at least are roped off so that you can assume them to be ground under repair. Do the same with these, or rebuild them like the few you had rebuilt last year. The tees were a little on the high side, evenly cut but high. Same for the greens, maybe they are cutting a little higher hoping to keep their irrigation costs down.
Tale of Two Courses (Jekyll/Hyde) - greens and tee boxes are excellent. Very friendly staff!
Except for hole #9 the front nine was a run of the mill course. The back nine was very interesting and loaded with fun holes with lots of twists. Holes 12-16 will thoroughly test your skills. The elevated (100+ feet above the green) #15 par 3 hole was a blast. The par 5 #16 hole is a real challenge. The hole shape is a big Z. A decent drive will still leave 250+ straight (little left or right - big trouble) shot to clear the corner...if not you will need to hit a short shot just to have a go at the green on your next shot. The greens were in exceptional shape. Some fairways especially on front nine are in need of some work. Highly recommend...it's worth the drive!
Thank you for the review! We are glad to hear that you had a good day on our course and felt it was worth the drive! Thanks for recommending us. Please come back and play again soon.
Work on Your Short Game
The Par 3 course is a perfect place to go work on your short game! Forget the Driving Range. Swing over to the valley and walk a quick 9 with a PW and Putter.
Thanks for the review, Andy! Come back and play with us again.
wow
Front 9 is decent but it is the back 9 that really shines! Beautiful course cuts a path through the national park. Entire staff was great. Mark picked me up and brought me bback to the clubhouse to sit out the 50 min rain delay. I will be back for the back 9, value and great staff.
Thanks for the review! We're glad you enjoyed our course and especially enjoyed the back 9! Looking forward to seeing you for round 2!
Overall great course
Took my stepdad here for Fathers Day and we both agreed we'll be coming back here more often. Beautiful course that had some challenging holes, nice clubhouse, and all for a really good price. Only drawback to the day was that there was nearly a 30 min wait on hole #2 that had 5 groups backed up. Otherwise a great golfing experience
Thank you for the 5 star review! We are pleased to hear that you and your stepdad had a great golfing experience on our course. Looking forward to having the both of you back!
Why make a tee time
yes it was fathers day and i expected it to be busy but why make a tee time if you are just going to be in line with everyone who just walked up?
no biggie... there was no huge rush but if you are going to set times at least put folks in line.
Thanks for the feedback and we are sorry about the inconvenience. We hope you still had a happy Father's Day and decide to join us again in the future.
Woke up and decided to try a new course
Enjoyed this course. Greens were in excellent condition. Fairways and tee boxes good too. Couple of interesting holes, VERY downhill par 3 and the Z configuration hole. Would definitely play here again.
Thanks for your review and feedback. Looking forward to having you play here again!
Absolute waste of time and money
My group paid $25 for 9 and a cart on a Friday morning and let me tell you it was the worst $25 I've ever spent. There are weeds growing on the tee boxes. The sand traps might as well be filled with mud. The holes are poorly designed. For God's sake one hole is shaped like the letter z, and another home has an elevation change like hitting into the grand canyon! There are so many better courses in the area to play before choosing this one, and most all of them are better priced as well!

Give it a shot.
This course did have its ups and downs. The front nine was beautiful. It was up kept and th ground was soft but not to soft with out a lot of rain. But the back nine needed work. It seems it is not played as often as the front. Certain holes the green was a little dried out and some fairways were dry as well but it had some challenges which I liked not a typical straight cookies cutter course. Staff was nice but not a lot around for it being very slow. Don't pay to much for the course but I would play it again for the right price.

Avoid at all costs
Wow what a terrible place to play. My friend booked the tee time and did not use golfnow. So we ended up paying $40 per person on a weekday in May. There is one thing to have long rough and another to have not mowed in weeks. The greens were untouched, ridiculously slow and long. Tee boxes were full of weeds. We even had one tee that you must use a driving range mat to tee off from. All bunkers completely full of mud. The back 9 is just an embarrassment to golf. I'm not the longest hitter and was hitting wedge/wedge into par 4's on the back. #16 was Wedge/9/9/wedge due to the shape of the hole. PLEASE do not play here. Incredible waste of metroparks area.

Tale of 2 great 9s
Brandywine down in Peninsula is one of the coolest courses I've played in awhile. The front 9 reminds me of a lot of the city tracks around here, with the exception of being nestled in Cuyahoga Valley, providing some sweet looking backdrops, and wildlife! I saw a small pack of deer and a turkey :)
The back 9 is unlike anything I've seen. Twisted back into the hills of the Valley, missing the fairway means you're up on a tree-covered hillside. Not a very long course, but insanely challenging. The 15th hole is the biggest elevation change I've ever played on. A steep-dropping par 3, it feels like your ball is in the air forever. A must-play for anyone golfing in the Akron area.
Thank you so much for the 5 star rating! We are thrilled to hear that you had a wonderful time and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the Cuyahoga Valley!
We hope to see you again soon!
the course is scenic and well maintained
The far ways were in very good shape. the greens were also in good shape but the trees seedings or droppings made putting difficult. the course is interesting because the first 9 is different from the back 9 holes. the back is more difficult due to the narrow fairways, slopes, elevated tees and right to left fairways.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your experience with us! We are thrilled that you enjoyed the scenery and had a great day! Thank you for the 4 star rating!
TLC
With a little TLC this could be a Gem!

Make a shot
Make a good golf shot shoot a good score
Thank you very much for the 4 stars! We hope we will see you again soon!
Course has some very unique holes.
Course is very scenic. The front 9 is very friendly and the " I survived the back nine at Brandywine " is quite challenging, with picturesque views. In the fall you basically play with the deer as Virginia Kendall surrounds the course.
Hi robertandpatti85,

Great course and well worth the drive.
I had a blast. The staff there was so nice as well. It's definitely a tale of two nines out there. The front has a lot of doglegs, but if you spray your shot, it won't hurt you too bad. The back however.... you pretty much have to throw darts all the way around. #15 was my favorite. 150ish yard par 3 that is straight downhill. If you have vertigo, don't look down. 16 is the infamous z hole and it gave me no problems. But left or right and trying to get all Golden Tee can kill any chance of a good score. All around, a great course that is fun to play.

Just another course. Although the back nine has a unique layout, nothing about this course sets it apart. The quality of the turf and tees is not good.
