Safari Golf Club
About
Located adjacent to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Safari Golf Club was carefully carved from mature forests. This tight course is not particularly long, but it has a varied design that appeals to a number of different tastes and skill levels. The layout features tree-lined fairways and water hazards on several holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers lurking treacherously beside the greens. The golf course starts off with a challenging par 4 that features a dramatic drop from the tee to the green. It finishes with two demanding par 4s as well. The 17th and 18th holes both feature a slew of challenges including rolling, tree-lined fairways and tricky stream crossings. Although it presents a formidable test on some holes, Safari Golf Club's hazards are straightforward with no surprises.

Improving with time.
The golf course continues to improve as the newer holes become mature. #1 tee is still not open so the hole is very short. The greenkeeping staff works hard to keep it in good shape and are courteous when working whenever they are near. A cart is a must because several holes have 1/8 to 1/4 mile distances from green to the next tee. I had a 7:40am tee time and the starter put me in a foursome. There were no groups in front of us, so I asked him to let me go early to get around more quickly. He said "no". We had two twosomes behind us. One twosome played through, the other pushed us for most of the round. 4 hour & 15 minute round because the rough was fairly high and we looked for a few shots on the front nine. Flexibility by the starter would have been a better strategy for pace of play. Nice chipping and putting areas near the #1 tee.
Hidden in plain site
I play approximately 75 rounds a year and many of those are at Public and municipal golf courses. I would rank Safari golf course as one of the top five in central Ohio I was pleasantly surprised by the care for the course, pace play and just the sheer beauty on a fall day. This course had plenty of fall foliage to enjoy.
Cold to Warm
Great time again at Safari. Got paired up with a couple (D+E).
Well maintained course
This place has better maintenance than most courses I go to. The greens and fairways are especially nice. And it is an interesting layout with some elevation change. The only thing I would say is that some of the holes are close together, but its not really a problem. Its sort of a tough course because of the narrow fairways and trees.
A Really Enjoyable Course
My friend and I really enjoyed this course overall. It's in great condition with some very nicely designed holes, and it provides plenty of challenges. Fairways were pretty lush, greens rolled nicely, and there were plenty of challenges. While pace of play wasn't quite so ideal, it wasn't terrible. Overall, the good time we had and the deal we got was totally worth it. Staff we did meet was very friendly, and we even played with another person who works in the cart barn a couple times a week, so he was very helpful in describing what each hole did.
Fun and beautiful
My co worker and I played it for the first time. We both really enjoyed it. Everyone was friendly. We were paired up with another pair and had alot of fun. Course was in very good conditions!
Delay
When arrive and told tee-times are running 40 minutes behind , starts the day off on a bad note .
Good course for the money
Safari has a challenging course that is well maintained. Staff is very friendly and it is one of my favorite courses in the area. Looking forward to returning again soon.
