I played this course as part of a golf trip to/around the Cleveland area in late May 2023. This course was included on our itinerary based on its listing as a Top Course by Golf Advisor.
PACE: It was a packed Friday afternoon. It was slow, but it was also nice having an afternoon out in the sun.
CONDITIONS: Everything was good. Tees and fairways were well kept. Greens were tougher because of their undulations that their speed. Bunkers were good.
STAFF: Pro shop and cart girl were friendly and helpful.
VALUE: I felt the greens fee was a fair price to walk on a Friday afternoon.
LAYOUT: Played the Blue tees (5,900). Given another round, I would have played the Gray (6,400). The course was starting on #10 this day, which at first seemed to make sense as the practice putting green and driving range are adjacent to the #10 tee. I did learned that the back 9 (my first 9) is more tight/tree-lined than the front 9 (my second 9). It seemed to play as a "score on the front, and hold-on on the back" kind of course. It is a fun track, and you can walk this course.
Poor Fairways and Pace of Play
I used to play here before the new clubhouse and always enjoyed the course conditions and pace of play. I have played here twice this year and in both instances the pace of play by groups in front of us were unacceptable. There are no rangers and when I called in the interaction with one was disappointing to say the least. Karen or Cara at the pro shop first told me that the ranger is not available as he is golfing. The second ranger, Clayton was much more empathetic but he showed up on the 17th. hole.
The greens and the area around the greens are just fine. However, the fairways have all kinds of grass that makes it bumpy. It simply needs to be cut at the same level as the areas around the greens. For the price you can go to many other courses. I like the layout and the greens but will not return.
Try the Burgers Tuesday’s
Fantastic Greens, and well managed pace of play. Tuesday $8 Burger Special is worth the trip, all by itself.
Really nice course and facility
Course was in really good shape. Has a great club house. Greens had been punched but were still running smooth and fast. Gets a lil busy. Only negative was none of the phone chargers worked in the 3 carts that we had.
Great local public course
This course has continued to improve and impress over the last couple years. Solid practice facility and the visible quality from the course maintenance makes for an enjoyable round.
Very slow play no ranger ever
I play this course frequently. The starters are nasty. Never any rangers on course. Players think they are only ones on course. No golf etiquette!
Pace of play
Course is great. Staff is great. Pace of play is bad. Almost 5 &1/2 hrs for a round. Never saw a ranger either. Actually had another golfer that was behind us asking if we had seen a ranger bc they wanted to tell them about the 2 groups in front of us playing so slow. Hopefully if I give this course another shot, things will be different
Fantastic Course
This day started with Friendly, Cheerful welcomes from everyone we encountered, and was capped off by Fantastic Conditions, Pace of Play, and Staff Presence on the course.
These folks know what they’re doing!
A model for how to manage a full tee sheet.
Well done
We WILL Definitely be back soon!
Cheers
