Golf Advisor: Top 25 Courses for Pace of Play in the U.S. (2021 #12)
Reviews
Weeping Willow Creek - A Sad Day
I have seen this course many time on our way to play Sawmill Creek, but have never played it. I elected to give it a try based on the reviews I saw on Golf Now and Google. Unfortunately, following their advice was a mistake. They must have a strong local following to prop up their reviews, because a four star rating is not warranted. I play four to five days a week and am very familiar with the courses and conditions in NEO.
The staff in the Proshop were friendly. I didn’t check out the putting green or range pasture.
The layout was odd and cramped in.
The greens were small, but rolled true and a reasonable speed given their size.
The fairways were frequently more like short rough and needed a mowing desperately.
The tee boxes were a bit beat up and worn.
No sand traps. Instead there are ample trees and water hazards.
The course’s score card shows a USGA Course and Slope Rating, but it will not show up in the GHIN application now, so perhaps it’s no longer current.
The pace of play on the back nine was stagnant, little or no movement. I waited 30-40 minutes per hole on # 12, 13, & 14 to tee off before ultimately deciding to skip the rest of the holes and leave. It simply wasn’t worth the wait. I don’t recommend playing it, if you enjoy a course with a good layout that is in good condition.
Accuracy is the key to success
Wildly tight and narrow course that forces accuracy. Very small greens and you’re literally playing in a forest with no places to miss around the greens. Love the layout, would like to play it when the greens and fairways are mowed tighter, but I understand with the amount of rain we have had
Mediocre Course
This course is nothing special. While it is very flat, there are enough trees, water and doglegs to make it interesting. The greens are extremely small, but in better condition than the course in general. Unfortunately, this course is not rated, so you can't post scores on the GHIN handicap app. The course does have a driving range, but not much else in the way of amenities. I see it as a good place to go to work on your game.
Fun layout
Overall course was in ok condition. Not the worst I’ve played. The positive is, the course has something for everyone. A really fun layout where no two holes are the same. For that reason I’d recommend playing here.
Course was in great shape. Nice, tight little course. Fun to play!
Nice and green
The greens were tighter. The putting speed was much better. I always like playing this course. Nice to see, they keep improving.
My favorite track
This is my favorite course to play. The staff is always friendly and the course is usually in pretty good condition.
