Fun Morning
I was in Cleveland for my wife's conference and used the opportunity to get in a round of golf. Looked up courses near the convention location and found this surprisingly fun muni course.
The elevation changes make this a truly memorable course without seeming gimmicky. The greens rolled much better than I expected (even though there were some burnt out areas). And overall the course was in good condition even with the large amount of rain over the previous few days.
While I will likely not be back, I would play this course regularly if I lived in the area.
a lot of construction gsoing on. follow a 4 sum that took for ever. there were 2 sum behind us constantly wait for us to hit but the greens were not cleared. estimated time was about 15-20 minutes per green including par 3 some of the green were in very poor shape and needed to be reseeded.
Course Conditions
This course was a wreck a few years ago, but someone put a lot of TLC into it and it was great the last few years. In one year they have lost the course and most of their players. I am so depressed because this is so close to my office that I would play here at minimum once a week, but those days are over. I won't return unless the conditions improve. Greens are abhorred. Even the 18th fairway looks like a cow pasture.
Please go back to the way this course was in 2015.
Business forgets it's a business
Played here several times over the last decade. It has never been worse. Not bc of the cost or the condition (yes, multiple greens have the golf equivalent to the mange) but rather the staff. Booked 18 on golfnow and as the tee time neared, I call ahead bc of a traffic jam to give the clubhouse a heads-up. The guy let's me know I probably won't play 18 if I'm late (2:56 tee time) too much thereafter. OK, no biggie. Get there at 2:56 on the nose and the guy says I can only play 9. I ask him why did they let me book it and he says it's not his doing but golfnow. Then he proceeds to tell me he wants all his carts in by 7:15 and what do I expect from him, to make the day longer????? Are you flipping kidding me? No one forced him to affiliate with golfnow. I'm sure he has had no tick in business without their help. And as far as that I want my carts in at 7:15 is understandable when you don't have anyone on your course. Yesterday was not the case. But the whole "I can't make the day longer" is the icing on this garbage cake. I don't need your smarmy answer when I'm just trying to give you my money just to play golf. I didn't ask for anything more than they allowed themselves to be asked. Never mind there was no starter, no ranger to help keep play manageable. No wonder he didn't think we could make 18. No one was out there to make it happen. BTW, we finished our 9 around 5:10 and no one was on 10 or 11. We easily could have made 18 by 7:15 so he could make it home in time to be as disappointing as he was at work. Don't waste your time or money here. They don't deserve that and neither do you.
Terrible greens
Greens were half mud half grass!! Don't go there and wasted your money on this time of the year!!
No Greens...Just "Browns"
Worst greens I have seen in years. On some you would be hard pressed to find a blade of grass.
When a course is this wet.......keep it closed!
I have never played on a course where the starter tells you to anticipate long delays, horribly wet greens, and to try and take care not to get your cart stuck on almost every hole. Front nine took almost 3 hours and that was after a 15 minute delayed start. Back nine was played in 2.5 hours after we skipped 2 holes to get in front of the groups in front of us. Bunkers were full of water and the greens can be best described as under water. Only redeeming quality was the friendly server in the clubhouse and the low price of beer.
Bad Greens
5+ Hour Round and 14/18 of the greens were black/brown soupy soft and near unplayable. Should not have been full priced round for the conditions of the course and our foursome was not told an outting was going out prior to our tee time.
Na
Needs water ; course has burnt grass
Good deal
Astorhurst has improved its course over the last 2 years. Good greens, interesting holes. Well worth the trip,
This course has very good condition and layout with the good scenery.
It is very good value for the money I paid, I would like to recommend my friends to play here.
Course conditions were very good. Staff was very friendly.
Greens and fairways were in very good condition. Many of the holes are very close so be very careful of wayward balls. Hole No. 8 needs some kind of indicator of distance to the pond as it is very hard to tell the distance because of the elevated tee box. Course had alot of challenging holes. Not sure about hole No. 13 (par 3)...there was a green about 190 yards and then another green about 100 yards. I guess golfers can chose to play either. Definitely recommend this course!
Fun course.
Course in great shape. Fun to play. Lots of elevation change. Got a great deal on Golfnow so it was well worth it. Looking forward to getting back.
Played this course for years
I have been playing this course for years. And I can honestly say this was probably among the best condition the course has been in.
local course
I love this course and I would love it more if they would put more sand in the bunkers and offer more food options.
Thank you
Fun Little Course
This course has some fun holes. It's challenging but also very playable. It was in very good shape and was very reasonably priced. I love the last 3 holes on the back nine, they have character and elevation changes that make things interesting.
Fun course
Play this course once or twice a year and always fun. Nice layout and the fairway and greens are in good condition. We got a $10 golf now for 18 and a cart-- can't beat that for this course. The only negative was we had to play the back 9 twice due to late season aerating.
Course Rating
Overall is slightly above averaged. I would recommend friends to play.
Average course
Nothing special, but a nice course. #8 is a very pretty tee shot. Not overly difficult. The day we played there were a few chop foursomes out there that I had to call to get a ranger to get them moving. The ranger came out and took care of business. took 2:45 for 9 holes.
