you can't beat the value
this is one enjoyable course to play, not a lot of trouble, long, ground is hard for a lot of roll and the greens are fairly hard to putt really good.
Challenging but fun course
Very enjoyable course. I don't think there is a level lie anywhere on the course, which makes it interesting. Greens are smooth and hilly. Better be a good putter (which I am not). Wide fairways, But still easy to get into trouble in the trees. Small Airport across the street. Always a small plane or two doing stunts above you as you play. Pretty cool.
the course had a little water and sand traps
I would play this course again. The few things I don't like was some of the holes was next to each other. The fairways was hard as rocks. The greens was hard to read but it made up for the easy holes.

I have played Holly Hills in the past many times. The course was in very good shape and the greens nice and fast. The bunkers were ok but could use some more sand or made softer. The coolers and outside free water is a nice touch.
Scenic
The fairways are mostly open enough that the average golfer can stay out of trouble, but some holes are a challenge. Greens were in good shape. Overall, I enjoyed the course and will play it again.
No Water to Drink
It took over 5 hours to play. Slow play everywhere. There was no water for us to drink. At the turn we spent a fortune on bottles of water. Being 85 degrees we went through that quickly. You have got to have water somewhere on course.

great staff
Due to the wet conditions the staff would not let any carts go out. Having already booked my round on golf now with a cart they gave me a raincheck for 9 holes and let me play the 18 walking. Customer service is always top notch here. I have played here a few times now and I enjoy going back every time.
course was in great condition
usually this time of year this course is not so good to play due to non watered fairways, but this year it is in really great condition
Course is well maintained and was fun to play. Good mix of moderate to challenging holes.
It had been some time since I last played this course. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much it had improved. The fairways and greens were in good shape, and the facilities we good as well. I noted that much of the long grass in the out of bounds areas had been cleared away, making the course feel more open. Good play and I'd recommend a return trip.
overall good course
Course plays to long for average "short drive players like myself" and other players in their 60's. Needs a set of golden tees for older and short drive players.
Horrible, just horrible
This is one of the worst golf courses in the area. First, the course is nothing more than a pasture. The "fairways" are nothing more than crabgrass and weeds, and the greens are slow and bumpy. The only thing slower than the greens is the pace of play. I played on Sunday morning and quit at the 2nd tee box. First, I had a 10:00am tee time and we didn't tee off until 10:40am because, as the "Starter" said, "things are a little backed up". There were 4 groups waiting to tee off in front of me at 10am, and 4 groups were waiting on the 2nd tee. I only paid $22 for this #got a refund# and will never waste my time or money at this place again. Terrible course, poor management. Save your time and money and go to Pipestone, Jamaica Run or Heatherwoode.
First I've never been to this course. You listed your pace of play and greater the 5 1/2 hours. how would you know since you stated you quit on 2nd tee box.. Second, At the time of year you play, things can get backed up early in the morning due to frost. I bet that morning Pipestone, Jamaica Run, or Heatherwoode would have been running late as well. No Golf Course that cares about their course will start tee times with frost on the ground.

late summer round...dry
I played this course in lat summer and it was incredible dry. The greens were in good shape, but the rest of the course was completely burned out

Im a member at Holly. There is a wonderful water machine outside the clubhouse. It does water, ice, or water and ice machine and there are large 24oz cups for free.
Next time take 2 large cups per 9 holes.
