Cleveland Gem
Cleveland Metropark's does a great job with their golf courses. Manakiki is the star.
I played yesterday afternoon. For a senior (over 60 years old) I paid $35 (with cart0 for a tee time after 2pm. That is is incredible price for a great course.
The course is in tremendous shape. Greens were perfect even late in the day. Fairways are really good. The rough can be challenging. Some very scenic holes. Not an easy course but very playable.
If you live anywhere near it, you have to come play it.
A Donald Ross gem
Manakiki is my favorite NE Ohio course. At 35$ senior rate it can't be beat. Course was in great condition. Course plays much longer than rated yardage because every green is up hill and elevated. Nothing bounces on. True Donald Ross greens. Fast undulating.. Course gets a lot of play but pace wasn't too bad at around 4 hours
I showed up and played with my father, I am now being charged for missing my tee time. I have never had this occur after using Golf now dozens of times. I will never use this service again. I showed up and played and now being charged full price for a no showing up. Shame on your business.
Wow
The course is an absolute tremendous shape. The new superintendent should be given a hefty pay raise for what he has done!
Great Greens
Overall terrific layout with the best Greens I’ve played on a municipal course.
Well done
Course is good BUT
This was the first time I played this course! I was greeted by a very friendly starter! And grouped up with some guys! Pace was great for 8am! The course in beautiful (in the summer) I’m assuming! There were ALOT of leaves on the course! I can’t really knock it that much but when there are giant piles just off the fairway for slice, you’ll loose a couple.
And the only other knock, the greens are VERY bumpy and sandy! Chip up to the green, your ball will look like it’s in the bunker! Obviously I know the circumstances with the weather, so that’s while I’ll try this course out again next year!
Overall though, I had a fun and great round with the guys I met! Golf is supposed to be fun, and you play through the challenges you face! Even a sandy green! Haha.
Beautiful course, questionable etiquette.
Been hearing about this place for years, but my experience was a bit underwhelming. I was greeted with a condescending tone. Then I was grilled as to why I would choose such a late tee time; I made a mistake I suppose, but personally I didn’t understand why the time was even available. They don’t care for patrons that schedule through apps it seems. There were no rangers monitoring etiquette or pace of play. I was told we couldn’t complete our round. The worst part of it all was that they allowed pedestrians to walk the course during play. A gentleman was with his son walking doing the course while we were hitting, and they literally picked mine and my partners ball and kept mine, and had I had to drop. Other golfers were rude and hit my ball or picked them up multiple times during the round. As we were coming in, we see local residents coming out of the woods with irons playing for free while we’re trying to hurry and get through our round. This was one of the most beautiful courses I’ve ever played but I’ve never witnessed more deliberate breeches of etiquette on a golf course in my entire life. I wouldn’t suggest people not attend, but I definitely won’t be back and it’s a shame.
Play here.
Shorter course but plays longer with the hills. Well maintained. Greens firm but fair.
